My Story
The Southern Belle of all things travel. I spend way too much of my free time dreaming of my next destination or adventure!
My Travel Style
My adventures began early in life as I gained a wanderlust from listening to my father’s tales of his jaunts across Europe while he was stationed in Germany in the 70's. Paired with his enormous photographic talent, I longed for the days I would one day leave my mark on the world!
As a child, it was fairly simple trips to Disney and the ill-fated/glorious Opryland Hotel, summer sojourns to my grandmother’s house, first via car and later solo trips via plane. I was a well seasoned airline passenger by the time I was in my double digits. We left the South for the undiscovered country of the Pacific Northwest when I was 11, and although I was not a fan at first, it was the greatest eye-opening that ever happened to me! My father traded in his pickup truck for an SUV and we drove that thing all over the PNW, often with no clear destination at our outset. Just a jump in the car as a family and find adventure, maybe Bigfoot, something new, something undiscovered, get lost, and find our way home again. Those were my favorite weekends ever. Especially when we ended up in Canada! I came to love Canada, particularly Vancouver and Victoria. My first taste of international travel would not be enough. A road trip across the country with my dad, my favorite travel partner, wouldn’t do it either.
I love the good life and finding great, unique places to stay. Like the little boutique hotel I found in 2011 in Paris, an 18th century home converted, down to period antiques, to look the part, it had these great claw-foot iron tubs in these luxe bathrooms... definitely not true to the period there, but the giant featherbeds looked oh so inviting. I looked for it a couple years ago but I'm not sure it survived COVID. Would it be great for a whole stay? Probably not. For a couple days, I'd endure it for the experience!
I’m not able to travel as much as I used to due to some health issues, but sharing my passion and love of the world, and fascination with all things travel is how I get to leave my mark. I get to send others out in my stead to see what I cannot, to go where I cannot go, to taste the foods and wines I can no longer go and taste. It is a smaller prize, but I do love it and learn so much from every trip I book. It is truly a passion of the heart and my joy to share with you.
