I believe in immersive travel: the sort of travel that transports you into a new world, a new way of thinking and a new way of experiencing life. I look eagerly for what makes each destination unique through experiences that cannot be had anywhere else. What I value most are those indelible moments that travel back home with you as vivid memories: the feel of ancient temple stones against your fingertips in Greece, the refreshing waters of a cenote on a steamy day in tropical Yucatán, the billowing clouds of fragrant incense in the Buddhist temples of Kyoto or savoring a fine glass of Brunello while looking out over the Tuscan hills where the grapes were grown. While the desire to see and do as much as possible is tempting, the ability to savor the moment is ultimately more rewarding. I think this is best achieved by experiencing your destination at a relaxed pace, taking care to interact more with locals and less with the crowds at tourist-besieged hotspots. And when night falls, I enjoy nothing more than coming back to an oasis of tranquility and comfort, reminiscing about the day that has passed and ready to dream about the one to follow.
