A Laid-Back Belize Travel Itinerary

Xunantunich Mayan ruins & cave tubing: This nine-hour tour includes ruins and cave tubing. Excellent experience with a delicious homemade meal and fantastic tour guides!

Actin Tunichil Muknal cave (ATM cave tour): Probably one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. This cave tour is truly amazing, but a pretty challenging experience. A 45-minute hike to the cave, involving crossing a river at chest high water. Then a three-hour cave tour with swimming, climbing and moments of pitch blackness.

Snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley: Take a private tour to do some amazing snorkeling. Guides are great and the fresh pineapple snack is a delicious treat after some snorkeling!

Secret beach: Not much of a secret, since it's on the map, but this is a must-do! A 15-minute golf cart ride leads to an area with multiple beachfront restaurants. Sit at a picnic table in the water and get your food and drink delivered to you. An amazing way to spend an afternoon. Just make sure you head back before dark, as you don’t want to be caught in the dark on the drive back. (Connect with me and I'll provide all the details!)

Mahogany Bay Beach Club: Private island reached by boat from the Mahogany Bay Resort. Tasty drinks and bar food delivered to your chair. Jump on a paddle board or relax in an overwater hammock.

Wahoo’s Lounge: Check out this bar right on the beach on a Tuesday or Thursday night for their chicken drop. Try your luck and possibly take home some cash, if a chicken poops on your number!

Palapa Bar and Grill: Spend a lazy day at this waterfront bar where you can hop in a tube and enjoy your beer / drink while floating.

Crocs Sunset Sports Bar: Catch the game, a beautiful sunset and a glimpse of a crocodile. Oh, and grab a drink or bar snack.

Breakfast

Estel's Dine by the Sea: The best spot for breakfast in Ambergris Caye! Beachfront breakfast or lunch. Visit on a sunday for BBQ, but you may want to preorder or go early so you don’t miss out!

Midtown Coffee Bar: We stopped in here for a mid-afternoon coffee and ended up coming back on our final day, while we waited for flight. It’s a five-minute walk from the airport.

Lunch & Dinner

La Ceiba: Gourmet Belize cuisine in a beautiful open-air restaurant. Highly recommend if staying at the Ka’ana resort, as it's a short walk from your room!

Wild Mangoes: We went here more than once during our trip for a tasty lunch or dinner. Beautiful beachfront restaurant.

Blue Bayou: Overwater bar at Secret Beach for the best strawberry daiquiri you will ever have! Pull up a seat at a water table and enjoy a snack while baby fish swim around you. This place even rents floats and paddleboards!

Elvi’s Kitchen: If you are a seafood lover, you will love this restaurant. Don’t be turned off by the sand on the dining room floor. You will be in awe of the tree that grows right through the roof of the dining room.

Pineapples at Ramon’s Village: A truly beautiful beachfront, open-air restaurant. Highly recommend the “pineapple boat.”

Dessert

Belize Chocolate Company: Sweet tooth? Make sure to stop by this quaint chocolate shop for a tasty treat or a cool souvenir! I brought home chocolate tea for my mom and myself. :)
