Venice is one of those cities that ticks all the boxes - there's culture, art, fantastic food, even more fantastic hotels. It's a true "city" break but has a feeling of not being a real city, perhaps because you're surrounded by water. There's so much to do, that you could easily be there for a week and not see or do everything, but here are some of my top tips.

Day 1: Arrive in Venice
Arrive, head over to Saint Mark's Square. Don't miss the Basilica, the Bell Tower (you can climb to the top to see the most spectacular view of Venice), and of course, the Doge's Palace.
Highlight is to walk across the Bridge of Sighs and see the largest standalone room in Europe.
Lunch at Aqua Pazza and afternoon spent wandering the sculpture gardens and the rooms packed with Picasso's and Calder's.
If you have time, pair with the Accademia for an afternoon of both superlative examples of Modern and Renaissance artworks.
Finish with a Bellini and dinner at Harry's Bar, because, why not?!
Day 2: Murano & Burano
Get picked up at your hotel for a day spent touring the pastel colored islands of Murano and Burano with stops at glass factories to see how famous Murano glass is created.
Long, lazy lunch at the famed Locanda Cipriani (note: not related to Cipriani branded restaurants), with an afternoon spent by at your hotel's spa - if you're at Cipriani, highly recommend an afternoon lounging at the city's largest pool.
If you're up for a truly Venetian adventure, do your own Bacarro tour! The best spots to hit are Da Lele, Al Merca, Il Mercante, Gia Schavi and Osteria La Vedova.
Day 3: Art and aperitivo
Start at the Rialto Bridge, make your way to the market to see all the fish caught freshly in the morning!
Walk over to the Frari Church and Titian's masterpiece inside.
Lunch at Enoteca Ai Artisti.
Spend an afternoon at Palazzo Grassi to see the Pinault Collection and Ca D'Oro.
After aperitivo at the Riva Lounge at Gritti Palace, walk over to Antiche Carampane for a spectacular local-favorite dinner alla Veneziana, full of delicious seafood!
