From the moment you arrive at Atlantis The Royal, you understand that this is not just a hotel—it’s an architectural statement. Rising dramatically above the Palm Jumeirah, the building is bold, modern, and sculptural, unlike anything else in Dubai. Its stacked, cantilevered design feels more like a living work of art than a traditional resort, perfectly positioned at the apex of the Palm with sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf and the iconic palm-shaped islands below.

Arrival and first impressions

Stepping into the lobby is an experience in itself. Towering floor-to-ceiling aquariums immediately command your attention, setting the tone for the immersive luxury that defines the property. During our stay, curated artwork was displayed throughout the hotel, including a Louis Vuitton exhibition, which added an unexpected fashion-forward element to the already stunning space.

From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Rather than simply being handed a key, we were personally escorted to our room. A staff member walked us through every feature—lighting, climate controls, the privacy glass, and all the high-tech details—ensuring we felt fully oriented and comfortable right away.

Our room and the view

We stayed in an ocean view room with breathtaking 180-degree views over the Palm Jumeirah. Walking out onto the balcony for the first time was unforgettable—the water, the sky, and the city blending into one spectacular panorama.

The room itself was pure indulgence: a freestanding soaking tub, a dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass wall that turned opaque with the push of a button, and design details that felt both modern and warm. Even the smallest touches—like the whimsical gold (plastic!) toothbrushes—felt intentional. From the luxurious linens to the custom furnishings, every element whispered quiet opulence.

Golden toiletries - Who does that?

Pools, beach, and wellness

Atlantis The Royal takes pool experiences to an entirely new level. The showstopper is Cloud 22, the rooftop infinity pool with panoramic views of downtown Dubai. It felt exclusive, glamorous, and cinematic—like something straight out of a movie.

Down below, the resort’s pools stretch along the oceanfront, offering a mix of tranquil and lively spaces depending on your mood. Whether we were lounging poolside or relaxing on the sand, the service was extraordinary.

At one point, while I was resting in my lounger, a staff member appeared with a personal-sized soft-sided ice chest filled with chilled canned water. Moments later came gourmet popsicles and cool towels—the kind of thoughtful detail that makes you feel genuinely cared for. Throughout the day, we enjoyed access to a beautiful menu of light bites, indulgent milkshakes, and creative cocktails, whether we were on the beach or by the pool.

I also loved the fitness center, which featured truly top-of-the-line equipment. Even the gym felt like a luxury experience, making it easy to stay active without sacrificing comfort or style.

Dining experiences

Dining at Atlantis The Royal is a destination in itself. Every meal felt special, but the standout was Gastronomy, the hotel’s spectacular luxury food hall. It offers virtually anything and everything you could imagine—from global flavors to elevated comfort foods—beautifully presented and endlessly tempting. It’s the kind of place where you want to wander, sample, and return again and again.

Beyond Gastronomy, the property is home to multiple world-class restaurants, each offering a unique culinary experience. Whether casual or refined, every bite felt thoughtfully crafted.

You have to see it to believe it

Evenings and the fountains

As if the hotel hadn’t already dazzled us enough, the evenings brought another magical layer. On the outdoor patio lounge, we watched a stunning water show, reminiscent of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas—but with a modern Dubai twist. The combination of music, light, water, and architecture created an unforgettable nighttime atmosphere.

Need to know

Staying on the Palm Jumeirah is an experience that can only exist in Dubai. This manmade marvel, shaped like a palm tree and visible from space, is a testament to the city’s bold imagination and ambition. Surrounded by futuristic skylines, endless ocean views, and architectural icons, it feels like stepping into a world designed without limits.

Dubai is a place where innovation meets indulgence—where the extraordinary is everyday. From soaring skyscrapers and pristine beaches to world-class dining and immersive experiences, the city doesn’t just impress; it astonishes. Atlantis The Royal was the perfect lens through which to experience it all.
