This is not simply a reopening, but a reinvention. One that feels deeply respectful of the hotel’s legacy while redefining what urban luxury can be today.

In this piece, I share my experience at the Rosewood Villa Magna, from arrival to gastronomy, wellness, and the human spirit that gives the hotel its soul.

Arrival & first impressions

The Paseo de la Castellana unfolds beneath my feet. Cars rush past, the city pulses at full speed... and suddenly, a door opens onto another world. Rosewood Villa Magna has the rare ability to create a parallel universe in the heart of Madrid: an intimate, elegant refuge that feels far more like a private home than a hotel.

From the very first moment, everything speaks of refinement. But beyond impeccable service, what stands out is the warm, the genuine care conveyed through every gesture, every detail, every look. As the monumental doors open in perfect synchrony, the feeling is immediate and unmistakable: I am not simply entering a hotel, but stepping into a carefully curated experience.

Rooms & suites

I stay in a Grand Premier Castellana room, offering 45 square meters of residential-style elegance with privileged views over the Paseo de la Castellana. From the entrance, the balance between classic luxury and contemporary design becomes clean, yet always with a welcoming, almost domestic atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at ease.

The room is spacious and filled with natural light, anchored by artwork above the headboard that adds character and personality. The bathroom deserves special mention: clad entirely in marble, with a generous bathtub and a separate rain-effect shower that turns everyday routines into rituals of relaxation. Thoughtful details abound, from a comfortable walk-in wardrobe and Nespresso machine to a Marshall speaker and an extensive pillow menu designed to elevate rest.

The welcome is perfectly judged: a basket of tropical fruit, healthy drinks, and unexpected snacks, including crisp seaweed crackers that quickly become addictive. It’s a gesture that sets the tone for a stay defined by comfort, care, and quiet indulgence.

Gastronomy

At the Rosewood Villa Magna, gastronomy is not simply an offering, it is a universe of its own. Las Brasas de Castellana acts as the hotel’s beating heart, starting with a breakfast that feels like a daily ritual. From the elegance of the service to the beautifully arranged buffet, every detail is carefully considered.

This is not an ordinary buffet, but rather an artful display complemented by an extensive à la carte menu of hot dishes. The result is a truly memorable breakfast experience, showcasing exceptional ingredients across international classics, healthy options, and a dedicated wellness corner.

In the evening, the same space transforms into a vibrant dining scene. The open kitchen allows guests to watch the culinary team at work over the grills, and dining on the terrace, when the weather allows it, is a genuine privilege in the heart of Madrid.

At Tarde.O bar, I discover an atmosphere that sits somewhere between an urban terrace and a private club. Negronis take center stage, and the space effortlessly blends hotel guests with a local clientele, creating a lively yet refined ambiance.

For something sweeter, Flor y Nata offers a Parisian-inspired moment, with display cases filled with pastries that feel almost cinematic. It’s the ideal spot for a mid-morning coffee, an indulgent pause at any time of day, or an elegant afternoon tea by the fireplace.

What makes these spaces special is how seamlessly they coexist, generating a unique energy throughout the day. From breakfast to the final drink of the evening, each culinary moment reflects the hotel’s essence: refinement, warmth, and the art of turning the everyday into something memorable.

Wellness & spa

If the hotel itself feels like a calm bubble along the Castellana, Sense, A Rosewood Spa takes that serenity one step further. This intimate, elegant space is designed to soothe from the moment you enter, with natural materials, soft light, and the gentle sound of water setting the tone.

Here, we experience one of the most innovative treatments currently available in Spain: the Claudia di Paolo Hair Wellth Spa. Far from a traditional hair treatment, this is a deeply sensory ritual combining scientific techniques with artisanal practices, cranial massage, and meditative movements. For those who appreciate head massages, it is profoundly relaxing, almost hypnotic, transcending aesthetics to become a genuine wellbeing experience.

The spa is completed by a serene water area featuring a hammam, Finnish sauna, experiential showers, and a hydrotherapy jacuzzi, alongside treatment rooms finished in noble woods and pale stone. From Mediterranean aromas to the warmth of the spa team, every detail contributes to an experience that feels less like a pause and more like a ritual of reconnection.

Private residences

At the very top of Rosewood Villa Magna lie its most exclusive treasures: the Signature Suites. Conceived as true private residences in the heart of Madrid, these spaces feature one or two bedrooms, independent living areas, and expansive terraces with panoramic views over the Castellana and the city skyline.

More than suites, they feel like elevated homes, designed for guests seeking complete privacy and longer stays without sacrificing the services of a grand hotel. They embody Rosewood’s philosophy at its most refined: intimate, residential luxury where guests don’t simply stay—they truly live.

The soul of the hotel: Its people

There is something at the Rosewood Villa Magna that cannot be measured or quantified, yet defines the entire experience: its people. This is not simply a team, but a family. In just 48 hours, I feel a level of care and dedication that goes far beyond professionalism.

From the housekeeping staff greeting us warmly in the corridors, to the front desk team and restaurant servers, every interaction is marked by sincere, human hospitality. In many luxury hotels, excellence is expressed through material details—at Villa Magna, what stays with us most is the warmth of its people. Each gesture, each act of attention, each smile transforms the stay into something truly unforgettable.

Final thoughts

The Rosewood Villa Magna is far more than an iconic Madrid hotel. It is a place that evokes emotion. Its luxury is expressed through its spaces, gastronomy, and wellness offerings, but above all, through the way it makes you feel. A refined yet welcoming refuge on the Castellana, and one we find ourselves already longing to return to.
