Let me start off with a shocking fact. I spent only a night here. Yes, if you are going to make a week trip out of it, it makes sense to invest in this glorious island because you would most likely be coming on a 30+ hr travel day and have to do it back. I didn’t! I am a continental traveler, so I combined New Zealand with Tahiti, and within one hour, I was on this new planet (I consider this island its own planet) For most cities and places, my normal pace is about 1–3 days per destination, but one night here WAS enough to soak up it’s treasures. It is unbelievably powerful.

Starting at the airport, you are met with smiles and welcome necklaces. Depending on your resort, even if it is this one, you have to arrange a boat airport roundtrip transfer with the hotel. They will be there at the airport and take you anywhere between 20–40 mins out to your new home! The smiles don’t leave, no matter who you are conversing with. I sat on my balcony deck for 10+ hours. Nowhere on this planet can you smell the fresh air, understand you are at the edge of the world, and be able to bask in what seems to be a desktop wallpaper. I couldn’t believe it was real, truly. It melted away every single sq inch of my stress, just by looking at it. The water is so welcoming, it feels like a hug. The food has such a unique taste. It’s a mix of fresh and the only way I can put it, new. It will tingle your taste buds in the right ways and is unlike anything else on earth. The breeze is JUST right. Waves? Barely exist. The hues of the ocean on the way to your property and back are jaw-dropping. I never knew a single ocean could take my breath away countless of times in countless different ways. There are such vibrant and exotic fish around you and it just makes you feel like a real-life mermaid. Now this destination is very well known for honeymoons, but it works for various types of traveler categories. Solo, family, couple, friend, corporate, etc. It is such a serene quiet. It is the reality and definition of bliss.

If you don’t just want to soak up the ocean or one view point of it, there are tours that take you to explore the landscapes of the island and some marine tours are offered, like swimming with sharks. Although the island is at a significant distance from other gems like Moorea, sometimes your property can offer a view right from your room! Make sure on your way from Tahiti to Bora Bora, you get yourself your own black pearl!
