Curator’s statement
The Claremont Resort & Club is a Bay Area icon and one of my favorite places for a quick reset close to home. Set against the Berkeley Hills with stunning views of the San Francisco Bay, it combines resort-style amenities with family-friendly touches that make it perfect for a staycation. Whether you’re chasing relaxation at the spa or fun with the kids at the club, the Claremont truly feels like an oasis in the city.

We spent one night at the Claremont Resort & Club for a family staycation with our two kids (both under 5), and it was the perfect blend of relaxation and activity. The property manages to feel both luxurious and welcoming to families—something that’s hard to find.
Our stay included access to the Kids’ Club, which was a highlight for everyone. The staff were fantastic and kept our little ones entertained with crafts and games, giving us a chance to unwind. We also loved that our package included breakfast and a $100 credit toward dinner at Limewood, where kids eat free. Between the views, the fresh California fare, and the friendly service, dinner was one of the best parts of our stay.

The Claremont Club is a true gem. We made use of the tennis courts and joined in on family tennis Sunday, which was such a fun way to spend the morning together. The spa deserves a special mention—it’s peaceful, beautifully designed, and the treatments are world-class. I highly recommend booking a massage with Amy, who made the experience absolutely exceptional.
Even though the resort feels tucked away, it’s just minutes from some of Berkeley’s best dining. After checking out, we walked across to The Station, a casual spot for delicious burgers and milkshakes—perfect for a post-pool treat with kids.

Overall, our one-night stay at the Claremont felt like a full vacation. It’s an ideal getaway for Bay Area families looking to recharge without the hassle of travel.
