Girls’ Getaway: The Ultimate Sister Weekend in Nashville
Curator’s statement

Nashville is one of those cities that wraps around you the moment you arrive. Maybe it’s the twang of live music pouring out of every honky-tonk, the mouthwatering scent of Hattie B’s hot chicken and smoky barbecue drifting through the air, or the way strangers smile like you’ve known them for years. Whatever it is, it’s electric—and I felt every bit of it during an unforgettable weekend with my sister. I can’t wait to go back.

General Jackson Showboat Cruise on the Cumberland River

I landed in Nashville just after sunrise, and the moment I stepped outside, I was greeted by a wave of heat and thick Southern humidity—summer in full force. My sister had flown in the night before and was already settled in at The Hermitage Hotel, where I met her for breakfast. The hotel was absolutely stunning, timeless, and elegant—and the breakfast? Even better.

That afternoon, we moved into her friend’s home in Germantown, a beautiful historic neighborhood just a 25-minute walk from Broadway and 2nd. The perfect mix of charm and convenience.

One of our favorite moments of the weekend? Music Museum Mania. Nashville’s deep roots in music history are impossible to miss, and we’ve embraced it fully—from the soul of country to the legends of rock and pop. It wasn’t just a visit. It was a full immersion into the rhythm and stories that shaped this city. (Even the sidewalk stars and murals felt like mini museums.)

That evening, we had dinner at O-Ku Nashville, a sleek and modern spot with surprisingly great sushi (yes, in a land of hot chicken—who knew?).

Next day: Lunch was casual and delicious at the Nashville Farmers’ Market, where we grabbed burritos from El Burrito Mexicano - fresh, flavorful, and just what we needed before diving into something we’d been excited about all week: an instructor-led line dancing class right on Broadway at 2nd. It was a blast. We laughed, stumbled, spun, and surprisingly held our own. Safe to say, we’re hooked.

By 7 pm, we were ready to hit the honky-tonk bars. We kicked things off at Tootsie’s, moved on to Posty’s, sang our hearts out at Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa, popped into Jon Bon Jovi’s, and ended the night dancing our way through Honky Tonk Central. Each spot had its own vibe, but all of them shared one thing: music pulsing through every floor and into your bones.

The next morning began with what may go down as the best coffee of my life—from a cozy gem called Surefire Coffee Co.

Fueled up and ready to explore more of the city, we boarded the Hop-On, Hop-Off Trolley Tour, which turned out to be one of the smartest ways to experience Nashville. The open-air ride gave us a laid-back view of the city’s different neighborhoods, historic landmarks, and quirky hidden corners—all while soaking in fun local trivia from the guides. It gave us a deeper appreciation for how layered and storied this city really is. One stop in particular left a lasting impression: Music Row. Nestled along 16th and 17th Avenues South, this stretch of quiet streets and private homes holds a legacy that’s anything but quiet. What once looked like ordinary Southern houses are now legendary recording studios and music publishing hubs. After World War II, this area transformed into the heartbeat of the music industry, and it’s still very much alive today.

One standout address was 804 16th Avenue South—originally a rooming house, it became one of the first studios on Music Row, built by the Bradley brothers in 1954 and later acquired by Columbia Records. And of course, no visit would be complete without passing by RCA Studio B, the birthplace of the iconic “Nashville Sound.” Knowing that artists like Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton recorded there gave us chills. It’s incredible how such unassuming buildings hold the echoes of musical history.

That evening, we had dinner at Pelato, a charming Italian spot tucked into 3rd Avenue North in Germantown. The atmosphere was stylish yet relaxed, and every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious—simple ingredients, bold flavors, and that cozy, candlelit vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. A perfect dinner before a night out.

Around 8 pm, we jumped on Lime scooters and cruised through the warm Nashville air down to Broadway and 2nd. Zipping past murals, neon lights, and groups of live-music seekers was half the fun—we laughed the whole way.

Nashville at night

Once downtown, it was back to the honky tonk trail—music pouring from every doorway, the streets alive with dancing, singing, and the kind of joy you only find in a city like this. We bounced between bars, again, drawn to whatever band pulled us in, each place a little different but equally full of life.

We ended the night at Category 10, a massive, multi-level honky tonk that felt like stepping into a concert and a dance party all at once. Built in collaboration with Luke Combs, it features everything from live music and rooftop views to light shows and an enormous dance floor.

And just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, one of my favorite artists, Page Rose, took the stage. The moment she started singing, I was screaming with happiness. It felt surreal to see her live, in that electric atmosphere, with everyone dancing and singing along. Pure joy.

That’s where we stayed - line dancing under the lights, surrounded by music, energy, and the kind of memories you carry home with a huge smile. And I did it all with my sister.
