Our trip began with a one-night stay at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, one of the most convenient pre-cruise hotel options near Port Everglades. The location alone makes this property appealing, but we were also pleased to receive a room upgrade to a King Bed Suite with Marina View. The room offered a large layout and a spacious balcony where we enjoyed sunset views overlooking the marina, with downtown Fort Lauderdale visible in the distance. The hotel is also located near the famous water taxi, although we did not take advantage of it during this stay.

The resort fee at the hotel includes several useful amenities such as food and beverage credits, Wi-Fi, and access to fitness facilities, which helped add value to a short overnight stay. After a four-hour drive, we opted for in-room dining, which has become typical for us on pre-cruise nights. Menu options were limited, but the food itself was good. Service felt more casual than traditional hotel room service, arriving in brown paper bags similar to an Uber Eats delivery. This felt appropriate for a solid four-star property like the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. We used $50 in food and beverage credits between the $20 included with the resort fee and the additional $30 provided as Hilton Diamond members.

The hotel was lively throughout the evening, with a mix of airline crew members and cruise passengers preparing for departures the following day. The lobby was busy and energetic, especially at night and in the early morning, but interactions were friendly and upbeat. In many ways, it felt like an extension of the cruise experience itself, which made the transition to sailing day feel seamless.

After one night at the hotel, we headed to Port Everglades to board Liberty of the Seas. We secured an early boarding time by checking in right at midnight on the Royal Caribbean app exactly 45 days before sailing. We were joining a large group of friends onboard to celebrate a birthday, and the energy was high from the moment we stepped on the ship.

Sail-away was spent at the Sky Bar and on the top deck, watching the sun set as we pulled away from port. After dinner and dessert in the Main Dining Room, we bounced around the ship enjoying the nightlife. A stop at the karaoke bar turned into a full sing-along experience, followed by a late night at the Viking Crown Lounge, where the dance floor stayed packed. It was easily one of the most fun embarkation days we have ever had, with nonstop action from start to finish. By the end of night one, it was clear the Deluxe Beverage Package had already paid for itself.

We once again chose to upgrade to a Junior Suite, which proved to be well worth it even on a short three-night sailing. The upgrade was relatively inexpensive, and since we are working toward Diamond status in Crown and Anchor, the double points were an added bonus. The extra space, larger balcony, and enhanced comfort elevated the overall experience.

Our itinerary included stops in Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, both of which delivered memorable experiences. We took advantage of Royal Caribbean’s newer bundled packages that combine the Deluxe Beverage Package with discounted access to both the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island and Hideaway Beach at CocoCay. These packages offer excellent value and simplified planning.

In Nassau, we spent the day at the newly opened Royal Beach Club Paradise Island. As one of Royal Caribbean’s newest offerings, the club still feels fresh and exciting. The night before our visit, small welcome items were delivered to our cabin, including a Royal Beach Club drawstring bag and branded hats, a thoughtful touch that added to the anticipation.

Once on the island, we were able to find a seating area large enough for our entire group to set up for the day. We spent most of our time in Party Cove, where the bartenders elevated the atmosphere by dancing along and engaging with guests, making the experience feel interactive and fun. After the party portion, we explored the rest of the club and were surprised by just how expansive it is. The pools are massive and beautifully designed. The heated pools were especially appreciated during a January sailing. While the food offerings showed some opportunity for improvement, the overall experience was impressive for such a new venue.

At CocoCay, the energy continued with a day at Hideaway Beach. The heated pool once again came in clutch, especially for a January sailing, and the atmosphere leaned fully into a Vegas-style pool party vibe. Music was pumping, the swim-up bar stayed busy, and our group leaned into celebration mode. While not officially sponsored by Patron, it certainly felt like it was based on the number of tequila shots making their way around our group. It was one of those carefree, laugh-filled days that perfectly captured the spirit of a short cruise with friends.

This trip was the perfect example of how a short sailing can still feel full and memorable when paired with the right pre-cruise hotel and a fun group dynamic. Between the convenience of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, the lively atmosphere onboard Liberty of the Seas, and Royal Caribbean’s expanding beach club experiences, this itinerary delivered exactly what it set out to do: celebrate, connect, and have fun.
