Curator’s statement
Bangkok is a city that has always challenged and surprised me. I have stayed in many of the world’s best hotels, but nowhere else brings together such radically different expressions of luxury within the same destination. Experiencing these three hotels at this particular moment, when all are ranked among the best in the world, deepened my understanding of how personal luxury travel truly is. Bangkok is not one story—it is many, and choosing the right one makes all the difference.

In 2025, Bangkok achieved something extraordinary.
Three of its hotels were ranked among the top seven best hotels in the world by The World’s 50 Best Hotels.
Number 2: Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River
Number 3: Capella Bangkok
Number 7: Mandarin Oriental Bangkok
All three sit along the same river. All three deliver world-class luxury. And yet, they could not feel more different.
I’ve stayed at all three, and what I realized very quickly is that choosing between them has nothing to do with rankings, stars, or prestige. It has everything to do with the kind of traveler you are and what you are looking for.

Four Seasons Bangkok: For the design-driven, culturally curious city traveler
The Four Seasons Bangkok is a creative urban landmark.
Located in one of the city’s most refined and emerging neighborhoods, surrounded by galleries, cafés, and contemporary restaurants, the hotel feels deeply connected to Bangkok’s cultural pulse. From the moment you step into its vast lobby, you sense that this is not just a place to stay, but a place to see and be seen.
Art is everywhere. Thai contemporary works are woven into the architecture, the corridors, and the public spaces, giving the hotel a strong sense of identity. Water features echo the flow of the Chao Phraya, while trees and natural elements soften the bold, modern lines.
Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, the property has become a destination in itself. Even non-guests come for its restaurants, its riverside setting, its chic patisserie Café Madeleine, or simply to experience its atmosphere.
With multiple dining venues, including a Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, an impressive wellness area with an Olympic-length swimming pool, and even a Muay Thai ring, this is the Four Seasons for travelers who love architecture, art, movement, and urban energy, without sacrificing refinement.

Capella Bangkok: For those seeking calm, space, and contemporary perfection
Capella Bangkok is where the city falls silent.
It was named the best hotel of the world in 2024 and is now ranked the third best hotel in the world. Capella represents a new definition of luxury: one rooted in space, stillness, and obsessive attention to detail.
With just over 100 river-facing rooms, the atmosphere is intimate and residential. Everything feels considered: the materials, the textures, the pacing of the service, the way the hotel gently shields you from the outside world.
Capella is also one of Bangkok’s most important culinary destinations. Its signature restaurant, Côte by Mauro Colagreco, holds two Michelin stars and attracts diners from across the city. Seasonal, precise, and elegant, it is a reflection of the hotel itself. Alongside it, Phra Nakhon celebrates traditional Thai recipes using ingredients sourced from the hotel’s own organic garden, offering a deeply rooted sense of place.
The spa is another highlight: serene, spacious, and almost meditative, with water facilities, treatment rooms, and relaxation areas that feel completely removed from the city.
Capella is for travelers who value quiet excellence and who see luxury as calm, privacy, and emotional comfort rather than spectacle.
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok: For lovers of heritage, ritual, and timeless elegance
The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is not simply a hotel. It is part of the city’s history.
With more than 140 years of legacy, it is Bangkok’s oldest luxury hotel and one of the most iconic in the world. Staying here feels like entering a living archive of travel, diplomacy, and refined hospitality.
The riverside setting, the colonial architecture, the legendary lobby, and the sense of ceremony in every interaction create an atmosphere that is both grand and deeply comforting. Many of its river-view suites feel almost cinematic, and it’s no coincidence that the hotel has appeared in films, series, and countless cultural narratives over the decades.
Gastronomy is a universe of its own here. From Le Normandie by Alain Roux, with two Michelin stars, to the iconic Lord Jim’s, one of the city’s most celebrated dining rooms, and refined Thai concepts such as Baan Phraya, the Mandarin Oriental remains a reference point for Bangkok’s culinary scene.
Its legendary spa, recently renovated and located across the river, is accessed by a traditional wooden boat and remains one of the most iconic wellness experiences in Asia. Even non-guests make the journey just for this.
This is the hotel for travelers who are drawn to heritage, ritual, and timeless sophistication, and who understand luxury as something that deepens with time.

Need to know
Same city. Same river. Completely different experiences.
What these three hotels share is excellence. What sets them apart is who they are made for.
Choosing between them is not about which one is “better.” It’s about understanding how you travel, what you value, and how you want Bangkok to feel while you’re there.
This is where my role as a travel advisor comes in.
If you’re hesitating between these three extraordinary properties, I can help you choose the one that truly matches you, while securing preferred rates, VIP benefits, and a stay designed around your priorities.
Because in a city like Bangkok, the right hotel doesn’t just change your stay. It changes your entire experience.
