Montauk: The "Un-Hampton" You Need to Visit
Curator’s statement

After Labor Day weekend, Montauk transforms into a serene haven where the crowds are so much smaller and the ocean's still perfect for swimming. My stay at the Montauk Yacht Club coincided with this seasonal shift, and I soaked in the tranquil atmosphere, warm sunshine, and delicious local seafood. It was the perfect spot, and I left feeling refreshed, renewed, and grateful for this little slice of coastal heaven.

We had an incredible stay at the Montauk Yacht Club, surrounded by beautiful grounds and stunning views of the bay.

One of the cottages available at Montauk Yacht Club

Our room was in the main building and was spacious, with a large bathroom and plenty of storage. The comfortable beds made for a restful night's sleep. The back patio was a highlight, with comfortable lounge seating and curtains for added privacy. It was all so peaceful and relaxing.

We loved the assorted dining options at the hotel, including a delicious breakfast every morning on the patio with wonderful menu choices for both adults and kids. Dinner was also exceptional, with mouth-watering lobster options that didn't disappoint. The staff were top-notch, anticipating our every need and providing friendly service throughout our stay.

More views from the room

The marina was a treat, with a wide collection of beautiful boats from around the world. We also appreciated the multiple pool options, including an adults-only pool, an indoor pool, and a gym. There were multiple outdoor areas created for relaxing as well, with hammocks, jumbo size games, a food truck, and a cozy fire pit area. The hotel's recent multimillion-dollar renovation is evident in the beautifully designed rooms and facilities.

The marina at night

While the hotel is set away from the village of Montauk, it's still easily accessible, making it the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience. We had dinner at The Harvest, a local favorite with views of the water, and the staff were all wonderful. We hiked the dunes at Ditch Plains and saw bunkers from WWII, all while walking with endless views of the ocean. We also went to the lighthouse and explored all of the history offered there.

Walking along the ocean in the dunes

Having lived in the Hamptons for years, I never really took advantage of getting to Montauk, and I wish I had. I am hoping to make this a yearly tradition.

Overall, I highly recommend the Montauk Yacht Club for its excellent service, beautiful grounds, and luxurious amenities.

Need to know

Montauk is literally the end of Long Island, New York. Many residents leave once winter arrives and the town is very quiet. Fall is an excellent time to visit if you want more of a calm stay, but if you want the hustle and energy, summer would be perfect for you.
