Quebec City

The perfect pairing: Old Quebec City

Before heading to Club Med, we spent a few days exploring Old Quebec City, and it turned out to be the perfect complement to our ski vacation. The cobblestone streets, historic architecture, and European charm of the old city provided a wonderful contrast to the mountain resort that awaited us. We wandered through boutique shops, sampled incredible French-Canadian cuisine at cozy bistros, and soaked up centuries of history at every turn. The kids were fascinated by the fortified walls and the iconic Château Frontenac, while we adults relished the café culture and vibrant food scene. This urban adventure gave us that exploratory, cultural experience before we transitioned into the relaxed, all-inclusive rhythm of Club Med. The combination of city exploration and mountain retreat created a beautifully balanced trip that satisfied everyone’s desire for both adventure and relaxation.

The all-inclusive advantage

One of the greatest pleasures of our stay was the complete freedom that comes with all-inclusive pricing. Every meal, every drink at the bar, ski lessons for the entire family, and even child care were included in our package. This meant no mental math at dinner, no surprise charges, and no budgeting stress—just pure vacation mode. Whether we wanted a glass of wine with lunch, an afternoon hot chocolate for the kids, or a cocktail after skiing, everything was simply there for us to enjoy.

The beauty of Club Med Charlevoix is that you truly never need to leave the property. From the moment we checked in until we reluctantly departed, we had absolutely everything at our fingertips. The ski slopes are steps away. Dining options are centrally located off the main gathering area, and all amenities—from the spa to the pool to the bars—are conveniently accessible within the resort. We never had to bundle everyone into the car to search for a restaurant or drive to find entertainment. This self-contained setup meant less time wasted on logistics and more time enjoying our vacation.

The thoughtful layout also gave our kids a wonderful sense of freedom to explore safely within the resort’s boundaries while we relaxed knowing they couldn’t wander too far. Our accommodations—two superior connecting rooms—fit a family of five to six perfectly, offering plenty of space with just the right amount of separation when we needed it.

What truly impressed us was the immaculate condition of the entire property. Throughout our stay, we consistently noticed staff maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, from regularly cleaning floors to deep cleaning furniture during the day. It’s clear that housekeeping takes tremendous pride in keeping the resort pristine, which added to our overall sense of comfort and relaxation.

Views from dinner

Views that take your breath away

The location itself is nothing short of spectacular. Perched above the St. Lawrence River with the Laurentian Mountains rising all around, the views from nearly every vantage point were postcard-perfect. We found ourselves pausing constantly—whether coming down a ski run or sipping coffee on our balcony—to take in the dramatic landscape. The river stretched wide and silvery below us, while snow-covered peaks created a stunning backdrop that changed beautifully with the light throughout the day. There was something so magical about heading up the mountain as fresh snow fell.

Swimming with a river view

A property designed for comfort

The resort itself is thoughtfully designed with both beauty and functionality in mind. The indoor pool became our children’s favorite spot when they needed a break from the slopes, and we adults couldn’t get enough of the outdoor hot tub. There’s something magical about soaking in steaming water while snowflakes drift down and you’re surrounded by mountain vistas. The spa offered a welcome retreat for some adults-only pampering—something that is welcomed after multiple days on the slopes.

Ski lessons that work

The included ski lessons were exceptional and truly made our trip. Our kids progressed remarkably well under the patient guidance of skilled instructors. The groups were well-organized by ability level, and the instructors struck the perfect balance between encouraging and challenging each participant. An adorable perk was the children getting some professional pictures during their lessons. These do cost, but you will find it’s absolutely worth the memories.

A friends’ getaway that works

We were thrilled to share this experience with close friends and their children, and Club Med turned out to be the ideal destination for a multi-family vacation. The included childcare was a game-changer, allowing us adults to enjoy uninterrupted conversations over leisurely dinners, tackle challenging ski runs together, and even sneak away for spa treatments while knowing our kids were having the time of their lives with supervised activities. It’s rare to find a vacation where parents can truly relax and enjoy adult time without feeling guilty, but Club Med has created that perfect balance. We’d laugh over après-ski drinks while our kids were engaged in their own age-appropriate activities, then come together for family time in the evenings.

Make the memories

Entertainment for everyone

Most impressive was how Club Med kept everyone entertained from morning until night. The daily schedule offered something for all ages—kids’ activities that our children eagerly anticipated, family events we could do together, and evening shows that genuinely captivated us. The entertainment team brought infectious energy to everything they did, from daytime games to nighttime performances. We never heard the dreaded “I’m bored” once during our entire stay.

Final thoughts

Club Med Charlevoix delivered exactly what we needed: a hassle-free vacation where we could focus entirely on being together as a family and recharging. The combination of stunning natural beauty, comprehensive amenities, quality ski instruction, and worry-free all-inclusive convenience created a week -we’ll treasure for years to come. We’re already discussing when we’ll be back, hopefully with even more in our group!
