Curator’s statement
The Costa Smeralda is not simply beautiful—it feels inherited. Its glamour is quiet, refined, and deeply rooted in Mediterranean tradition. From land, it is elegant; from the sea, it becomes transformative. For couples seeking privacy, understated luxury, and a sense of belonging to a timeless European summer, there is no better way to experience it than by private boat.

Depart from Cala di Volpe by private RIB
Begin your day at the private dock of Hotel Cala di Volpe, where your skipper awaits with a sleek, comfortable RIB. After a slow Italian breakfast overlooking the marina, you slip quietly into open water—leaving the world behind.

A little corner of paradise off of the Costa Smeralda
Swim in the waters of Mortorio & Soffi
Cruise toward the protected islands of Mortorio and Soffi, where emerald water and white sand feel almost untouched. On calm days, the bays can feel completely private. We spent nearly an hour floating in crystalline water so clear we could count the fish from the boat.
Witness the superyacht parade
While anchored off Mortorio, we watched an extraordinary procession of superyachts glide past one by one—at least 10 in silent formation. It was a rare glimpse into the discreet maritime culture that defines the Costa Smeralda.

Espresso at Il Paguro, Porto Rotondo
Dock in Porto Rotondo for a relaxed stroll and an espresso at Il Paguro. Watching yachts maneuver into their slips while sipping perfectly brewed coffee is a simple yet essential Italian ritual.

Cruise the celebrity coastline & spot dolphins
Sail past hidden villas nestled into granite hillsides as your skipper shares stories of the international personalities who summer here. Near Capo Figari and Figarolo, dolphins are often seen—we watched two leap toward open water in the afternoon light.
Lunch in the “kingdom” of Tavolara
Dock at Isola di Tavolara and enjoy fresh seafood at Ristorante da Tonino Re di Tavolara. Over Vermentino and Mirto, you’ll hear the legend of the Bertoleoni family—said to be the world’s smallest royal dynasty, blending history and myth in true Mediterranean fashion.

Tavolara Island: the smallest kingdom in the world.
Enter the Cave of Good Fortune
Circle Tavolara’s dramatic cliffs and glide into a small sea cave. Tradition says touching the rock inside brings luck—a quiet and intimate moment suspended between sea and sky.
Swim in the “natural pools” of Molara
At Isola di Molara, the water turns an impossible shade of turquoise. Known as the “Piscine Naturali,” this is where you can swim surrounded by hundreds of small fish—like drifting through a living aquarium.

Need to know
The ideal months are June through September, when sea conditions are calm and the coastline is at its most vibrant. A private RIB with skipper allows maximum flexibility and access to secluded coves unreachable by larger yachts. Tavolara and Molara are protected marine areas, so respectful navigation and swimming practices are essential. This experience is especially suited to couples seeking privacy, romance, and a discreet introduction to the Mediterranean elite lifestyle.
