Curator’s statement
Bishop’s Lodge provided a thoughtful and serene birthday retreat. It was our first time in Santa Fe but won’t be our last after top-tier hospitality from the entire Bishop’s Lodge staff. Santa Fe was the perfect drivable getaway from Denver for a healthy change of scenery.

Santa Fe is a charming southwest city full of local eateries and art galleries. During the warmer months, there are also countless outdoor activities that include horseback riding, golf, hiking or hot air ballooning. Taos is a short drive away and could elevate a longer trip if you want to get out of town.
There are lodging options for all price ranges, but we were truly blown away by the experience we had at Bishop’s Lodge. Tucked away about 10 minutes from downtown Santa Fe, it provided the perfect quiet retreat with thoughtful amenities and activities to keep us busy while we were on site. It was perfectly decorated to match the southwest aesthetic of the town.

Blankets at a local shop
Not only did we have Fora perks, but I mentioned my birthday as the reason for our trip and I think every single staff member acknowledged it. It was such a small action, but it made us feel valued all over the resort and really highlighted the quality of service and attention we received throughout our stay.
We were welcomed with a homemade elixir that was said to help with adjusting to the altitude (7,000 ft!). The valet loaded us onto a golf cart to take us to our room and provided a driving tour of the property on the way. In our room, we were greeted with a birthday cake and local snacks inspired by New Mexico. We also had a fireplace that we kept on at almost all times when we were in the room because of the perfect, cozy vibes it provided!

Bishop's Lodge view
On site at Bishope Lodge, we took advantage of the spa for a couples massage, the two restaurant options and room service. Breakfast was my absolute favorite, and I (highly) recommend the rancheros! As far as the spa goes, according to my husband, he’s never seen me so relaxed, so you could say they did a great job!
They also have an extensive activities calendar with complementary activities and some that are a small fee. We participated in yoga, archery (+$25pp) and candle-making. We wish we had stayed after yoga for the sound bath! They also coordinate with local vendors to offer an extensive list of elevated excursions such as silversmithing, leather tooling and a chocolate immersion.

Archery practice!
For any car enthusiasts, Bishop’s Lodge offers a fleet of luxury Mercedes that you can rent for no additional charge (pending availability). This was such a fun way to elevate our off-site date nights!
In town, we wandered between art galleries and local shops. We also made sure to take the advice of our archery instructor to shop with the local vendors in the plaza. We came home with some beautiful turquoise and copper pieces.

The chapel at Bishop's Lodge
Our two dinners in town were at The Pink Adobe and La Boca. Both were delicious. We also sampled a flight of hot chocolates and created our own sample box of chocolates at Kakawa Chocolate House. For more recommendations for Santa Fe dining options, reach out to me!

Need to know
Make reservations ahead of time! Even on a chilly March weekend restaurants and spas had limited availability.
We hit extreme wind during both of our drives on 25 that closed parts of the highway. Factor this in for any traffic or time concerns.
Everywhere we ate had generous non-alcoholic beverage options that included mocktails, non-alcoholic beer and a variety of soft drinks.
With the wellness focus of Bishop’s Lodge and the variety of activities around town, Santa Fe was a perfect destination for a wellness focused trip as well!
