Curator’s statement
This is a very relaxing beach cruise for those who would rather not have a busy port itinerary each day. The cruise had two relaxing sea days and two port days, one in Puerto Plata and the other at the Beach Club in Bimini to relax, have a drink, and soak up the sun. My husband and I went with our daughter and son-in-law on this five-day all-adult cruise. We usually take cruises that are packed with ports that have lots to explore, so we picked this cruise to do something different and relax a bit from our normal fast-paced vacations.

Trip overview

Dominican port
On the first day, we settled into our cabins and unpacked. Virgin has plenty of storage, but we asked the cabin steward for a few more hangers. He was happy to help us out!
We had dinner at the Extra Virgin restaurant, which was my favorite as I love Italian food and there was an unbelievable menu. The service was amazing, and the wine choices are great as well.
On the sea days, you can relax by the pool to the DJ playing fun vacay music or find a quiet spot to lounge and read a book. Love that! Of course, there are activities inside if that is the vibe you prefer. We did enjoy the Social Club for some fun games and loved Bingo the Virgin Way—big payouts to the winners, sadly not us, but it was fun!
The beach club at The Dominican had shopping, pool, lazy river, food, and drinks. We enjoyed the lazy river! There is a shuttle from the ship to the beach club area. It was just for sailors on the ship that day, so it was all adults and it felt safe and clean. The music was lively and dancers entertained by the pool. The local beer was Presidente, enjoyed by many.

The Resorts World Beach Club Bimini also provided a shuttle service. The shopping wasn’t really worth the stop, as many spaces were empty. They also have a casino at Resorts World! The Beach Club is just for sailors, and your wearable works to get drinks or supplies to purchase if needed, like sunscreen or shirts. I would recommend getting off the ship early to get a good spot on the beach or by the pool. They have nice loungers and umbrellas, but they do fill up quickly.
Tip: I found most people turn right for a chair, so go left!

Need to know
Remember your beach towels from your cabin, as they will not issue a new towel unless you return the towel from your cabin.
Remember to pack lots of sunscreen! I found three ounces of sunscreen in spray for travel at Target! It runs out quickly, but it is less expensive than buying at the beach clubs! A hat is a must as well!
Virgin is an extremely adult-inclusive cruise line for all people to enjoy.
