Curator’s statement
Vero Beach is near and dear to my heart—it’s not only one of the most relaxing and beautiful coastal towns in South Florida, but also my hometown. I love its slow pace, laid-back atmosphere, and uncrowded beaches. It’s the perfect place to unwind, soak up the sun, and enjoy a charming beach town filled with coffee shops, great food, local drinks, and weekend farmers markets.

Things to do in Vero Beach, FL

The best beaches that are walkable from the recommended hotels are Jaycee Park, Humiston Park, Riomar, and South Beach (a bit farther). These spots are all near to food and drinks, and offer non-crowded spots to relax.
Riverside Park is a spot to enjoy a waterfront walk overlooking the lagoon through the beautiful oak trees, and if you’re lucky, you can spot dolphins and other wildlife from the trail! There’s also tennis courts and a workout path for those looking for an active option.
Check out the Vero Beach Farmers Market at Humiston Park every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The market offers a large range of healthy, fresh foods and horticultural products to the residents and visitors of Vero Beach.
Unwind and enjoy a little pampering at Salt Salon and Spa that offers a range of beauty and wellness treatments, with a focus on halotherapy (salt therapy). Another great option for a spa day would be the White Orchid Spa at the Kimpton Hotel that offers full-service, medical-grade options.
To enjoy surfing, drive down to Sebastian Inlet State Park to kick back, enjoy the sunshine; drive through beach A1A to see the homes and neighborhoods, and watch some local surfers.
Stroll through Historic Downtown Vero Beach to browse boutique shops, cafes, and galleries in a walkable small-town setting.
Art lovers will enjoy the Vero Beach Museum of Art with rotating exhibits and a sculpture garden.
Places to eat & drink in Vero Beach, FL

Breakfast:
Four Suns Surf and Coffee is across the street from the recommended hotels and is tucked in with the boutiques and cafes along historic Vero Beach. This shop combines adorable beach clothing, accessories, and delicious, sustainably sourced coffee.
Visit the Vero Beach Farmers Market for the most delicious açaí bowls, fresh fruit, and homemade breads/dips.
The Lemon Tree offers a full breakfast in a sit-down environment.
Lunch:
Waldo’s Restaurant on the beach is ideal for American food with ocean views and tropical drinks and is situated in the historic Driftwood Inn. They also often have live music on the weekends!
El Sid is a more casual spot on the beachfront that offers the best Mexican food and ice cream that is freshly prepared and affordably priced. It’s my personal favorite, and I especially enjoy the queso & coffee/vanilla swirl!
Casey’s Place is the best spot to grab a burger and fries & sit outside. A must-try are the Cajun fries!
Dinner and drinks:
Ocean Grill is a historic seafood restaurant known for its unique, charming atmosphere built right over the beach with ocean views, serving fresh, wild-caught seafood, steaks, and comfort food since 1941. I would describe this as casual but upscale in quality.
The Tides has a distinct menu of Floridian and New American cuisine with Southern, Latin, Caribbean, and classical French influences. It has the freshest seafood, locally grown and organically raised vegetables and fruits, and quality meats along with a wine list which has received the Award of Excellence from The Wine Spectator for 26 consecutive years.
For a post (or pre!) dinner cocktail, check out Grind and Grape, which is a coffee shop by day and a wine/cocktail bar by night, offering a relaxed atmosphere with live music, craft cocktails, an extensive wine and beer list.
