Advisor - Florence for Two: Where Romance Meets Renaissance History
Curator’s statement

Florence feels intentionally designed for connection. From my experience, it’s a destination where history, beauty, and atmosphere come together in a way that naturally slows you down. I’m drawn to how effortlessly romantic it feels. Whether you’re sharing a long dinner, walking through quiet streets at golden hour, or taking in the city from above. Even the smallest moments feel memorable, like stopping at one of Florence’s historic wine windows, where you knock on a tiny door and are handed a glass of wine. Simple, unexpected, and uniquely Florentine. For couples and honeymooners, Florence offers something deeper than sightseeing. It creates space to be present, together.

Things to do in Florence

Ponte Vecchio at sunset

  • Visit the Florence Cathedral: Standing in front of the Duomo never gets old. I recommend climbing to the top for panoramic views. It’s a shared experience that feels both grounding and unforgettable.

  • Walk across the Ponte Vecchio at sunset: This is one of my favorite moments in Florence. The golden light reflecting off the Arno River creates a setting that feels naturally romantic without being staged.

  • Explore the Uffizi Gallery: Even if you’re not deeply into art, this museum is worth your time. Seeing Renaissance masterpieces in person adds context to the city’s history in a way that feels meaningful.

  • See Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery: It’s one of those pieces that truly lives up to expectations. I suggest going early to take it in without the crowds.

  • Wander through Piazza della Signoria: This square feels like an open-air museum. I like coming here in the evening when the lighting shifts and the atmosphere feels more relaxed.

  • Visit Basilica di San Miniato al Monte: This was one of the most memorable parts of my trip. The 1,000+ year old church is rich in history. It also offers a quieter, more intimate view of Florence and is far less crowded than other viewpoints.

  • Take in sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo: If it’s your first time, this is a must. I recommend pairing it with a bottle of wine and simply taking your time.

  • Stroll through the Boboli Gardens at Pitti Palace: This is a great way to slow the pace of your day. The gardens feel expansive and peaceful, offering a break from the city streets.

Places to eat & drink in Florence

Osteria del Proconsolo, early dinner and wine

  • Ristorante Antica Cantina Padronale: A charming, traditional spot that feels rooted in Florence’s history. What makes it especially memorable is its connection to the city’s wine window culture. It’s a simple, intimate experience that perfectly captures the romance and character of Florence.

  • Osteria del Proconsolo: This spot feels authentic and inviting without being overly formal. It’s a great place to enjoy classic Tuscan dishes in a relaxed setting, with a glass of red wine. Perfect for a date night that still feels grounded in the local experience.

  • La Giostra: Perfect for a romantic evening. The ambiance is intimate, and the menu leans into elevated Tuscan classics.

  • All’Antico Vinaio: Ideal for a casual lunch. Their sandwiches are simple but incredibly flavorful. Perfect for a quick stop between exploring.

  • Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina: A wine bar experience that feels refined but not intimidating. I recommend stopping here for a relaxed evening glass of wine.

  • Gelateria La Carraia: A must-stop for gelato, especially in the evening after dinner. I loved grabbing a cone and relaxing on the Ponte Vecchio, closing out an evening and making Florence feel so memorable and romantic.

Need to know

Florence is best experienced at a slower pace, especially for couples. I always recommend limiting how much you schedule each day so you can fully enjoy the moments in between. Those often become the most memorable.

Booking key experiences in advance (museums, special dinners) is important, but leaving space for spontaneous walks, wine bars, and unplanned stops is just as valuable. The city is very walkable, so choosing a centrally located hotel makes a noticeable difference in how your days flow.

If you’re planning a honeymoon or romantic trip, prioritize experiences that allow you to linger. You can experience sunset views, extended dinners, and quiet mornings, rather than trying to see everything.
