Curator’s statement
San Pedro offers something for everyone—whether you’re seeking relaxation, thrilling adventures, or unforgettable cuisine. Traveling around the island on a golf cart allows you to move at your own pace and explore when you see something of interest. My only regret is not staying longer, but I’m still glad we spent a day in Caye Caulker.

Things to do in San Pedro

Snorkeling with nurse sharks at Shark Alley
Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Alley: Great place for snorkeling with a lot of marine life including turtles, stingrays, eagle rays, nurse sharks, and a variety of tropical fish.
Secret Beach: Beautiful, clear water and a plethora of restaurants and bars.
Alaia Belize day pass: Purchase the all-inclusive day pass and enjoy all the amenities including food and drink until 5 pm.
Stingray Beach (Caye Caulker): Stingrays come up to shore around 3 pm.
Tarpons (Caye Caulker): Feed the tarpons at the feeding dock.
Hardwood Gym (Caye Caulker): If you want to enjoy a workout outdoors, this has a similar aesthetic as Tulum Jungle Gym.
Ice ‘n’ Beans (Caye Caulker): Coffee shop. The mini donuts were delicious.
Places to eat & drink in San Pedro

Elvi’s Kitchen: Snapper sere (coconut chowder with deep-fried snapper tail)
Elvi’s Kitchen: Live music and local cuisine.
Maxie’s Restaurant & Lounge: Nice ambiance. Still thinking about the herb-roasted garlic shrimp.
Hidden Treasure Restaurant: Romantic restaurant with variety of menu options.
Gonzalo and The Princess: If you are looking for a fine-dining experience, the presentation of the food and beverages was top-tier. Everything was delicious.
Blue Bayou: In-water dining at Secret Beach.
Caramba Restaurant & Bar: Choose your seafood and the chefs will prepare it in your selected style.
Errol’s Fryjack (Caye Caulker): Fryjacks are a Belizian snack. Inexpensive and delicious. Try it with the hot sauce.
Carlo & Ernie’s Runway Bar: Bar literally located right next to the SPR (San Pedro) Airport. Great view of planes coming and going, plus lots of TVs for various sporting events.
Sunset Lounge: Rooftop lounge with a DJ. Open Thursday through Saturday.
Marbucks Coffee House: Great place to stop on the way to Secret Beach.
The Farmhouse Market & Cafe: Coffee shop with food options and a small market.
The Truck Stop: Food trucks and live music.
Need to know
Getting to San Pedro: Ferry or plane. I highly recommend the plane—it’s a 15-minute ride. To take the ferry, you will need to go from the airport to the ferry terminal.
Exchange rate: 2 Belizean Dollars = 1 US Dollar. USD was accepted almost everywhere. Change is typically given in Belizean dollars.
Golf cart rental: Get a golf cart for your stay. I recommend Isla Bonita Golf Cart.
Lobster season: July 1st to February 28th. Lobster is not available March 1st through June 30th.
Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club: Private beach club for guests, accessible by boat.
Alaia Belize, Autograph Collection: Offers all-inclusive option for stays that are 2+ nights. Would recommend ending your trip here to take advantage of all the on-site amenities.
Depending on the length of your stay in Belize, consider exploring Belize City or the other neighboring islands.
Take a day trip to Caye Caulker: Hop on the ferry over to Caye Caulker. The island is a bit more laid-back compared to San Pedro.
