Things to do in Austin

Taylor Regulski/A3
ACL festival days
Nothing compares to the energy of live music under the Texas sun. I plan my set schedule in advance, wear something breezy but bold, and soak in every minute.
ACL festival nights
After the headliners, the city hums with rooftop parties, secret sets, and stylish nightcaps. Whether I’m heading to an aftershow or just back to my luxe hotel, I keep the vibe going.
Quick glam at Brittany's Salon or Drybar
Festival hair = handled. I book a braid or blowout ahead of time so I can roll into Zilker Park feeling polished and effortless.
Recharge at Milk + Honey Spa
A morning massage or facial is the perfect reset. It’s peaceful, beautifully designed, and a total contrast to the crowds.
Golden hour at P6
Even if you only have 30 minutes between events, this rooftop at The LINE offers a breathtaking sunset moment over the lake—and it’s the ideal place to pause.
Poolside reset (if you can swing it)
If I’m staying somewhere with a great pool, I make time—even if it’s just an hour with a cold drink and my feet in the water. It makes the whole weekend feel like a vacation.
Walking South Congress
Even a quick stroll is worth it—colorful murals, vintage neon, and just enough boutique window shopping to get inspired. It’s the stylish soul of Austin.

ACL eats (inside the festival)
ACL Eats offers a diverse selection of local Austin favorites, ensuring you don’t have to leave the festival grounds for a satisfying meal. Notable vendors include:
CM Smokehouse: Known for their brisket crunchwraps.
Veracruz All Natural: Offers fresh tacos with vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Chi’Lantro: Famous for their Korean BBQ-inspired dishes like kimchi fries.
These options provide quick, delicious meals to keep you energized throughout the day.
Terry Black’s Barbecue
Located just a short walk from Zilker Park, Terry Black’s is an ideal spot for a pre-festival meal. They serve authentic Central Texas BBQ, including brisket, ribs, and sausage, in a casual setting with ample outdoor seating.
ATX Cocina
For a more upscale dining experience, ATX Cocina offers modern Mexican cuisine in a 100 percent gluten-free kitchen. Their dishes are crafted with heirloom corn and innovative techniques, providing a safe and delightful option for those with dietary restrictions.
Franklin Barbecue
A legendary spot in Austin, Franklin Barbecue is renowned for its mouth-watering brisket and long lines. If you’re up for the wait, it’s a must-visit. Alternatively, consider ordering ahead to skip the line and enjoy their acclaimed BBQ.
Aba
Situated on South Congress, Aba offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes in a lush, garden-like setting. It’s perfect for a relaxed brunch or dinner, featuring shareable plates like hummus, kebabs, and fresh salads.

Pro tips for doing ACL like a pro
Stay close, stay luxe
Every hotel I’ve included in this guide is walkable to Zilker Park. That means no overpriced rideshares, no getting stuck in traffic, and no leaving the headliner early to “beat the crowd.” You’ll stroll back while everyone else is still refreshing their Uber app—and you’ll do it knowing a plush bed and perfect A/C are waiting.
Be ready to walk (a lot)
ACL days are long—and your step count will show it. Between walking to the festival, bouncing between stages, and heading out afterward, expect to cover 12–15 miles a day. Comfortable shoes are a must, and a bit of training beforehand won’t hurt either.
Pack smart, store smarter
The festival offers lockers (reserve one early!) and even chair check. This makes it easy to stash your gear—like a jacket for chilly nights or a change of shoes—without carrying it all day. It’s a small upgrade that makes a huge difference.
