Six days in Rome and along the Amalfi Coast capture the best of Italy’s spirit: history, beauty, and la dolce vita. In Rome, every step takes you through centuries of culture, art, and timeless charm. The Amalfi Coast contrasts this with its dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters, and slow, sun-soaked rhythm of coastal life. Together, they create an experience that feels both inspiring and restorative. This is a journey that stays with you long after you’ve returned home.

Day 1: Visit the Colosseum & Roman Forum

Visit the Colosseum at sundown, when the golden light brings ancient stones to life.
Today we head to the very heart of European civilization: the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, where history speaks from every stone.
The Colosseum, an architectural marvel of its time, rises 48 meters high and once held over 50,000 spectators. Built nearly 2,000 years ago, it featured retractable awnings to shade the crowd, elevators to lift wild animals into the arena, and a complex underground network for stage effects. These technologies are astonishing even by today’s standards.
The Roman Forum, once the bustling center of public life, was equally advanced. Fresh water flowed through aqueduct-fed pipes, feeding public fountains, baths, and even underground drainage systems. Amid temples, basilicas, and marble arches, it was the beating heart of a city that mastered both grandeur and practicality. These sites still impress—not just with their beauty, but also with the genius of Roman engineering.
In the afternoon, head out for the best shopping experience in Rome. Explore the elegant boutiques along Via del Corso, Via Condotti, and Via Margutta, where luxury brands, Italian designers, and charming artisan shops await. Whether searching for high fashion, unique souvenirs, or handmade leather goods, Rome’s shopping streets offer something special for every taste. Don’t forget to pause at the iconic Caffè Greco to soak in the vibrant Roman atmosphere between your finds.
Day 2: Visit the Vatican Museums

Vatican Square is where art, faith, and history meet—a must-see on any Roman journey.
Start the day with a visit to the Vatican Museums, home to one of the world’s greatest art collections, including Michelangelo’s breathtaking Sistine Chapel ceiling. Wander through the Raphael Rooms, the Gallery of Maps, and the impressive Pinacoteca before reaching St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world and a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture.
Tips for tickets: To skip the long lines, it’s highly recommended to buy tickets online from the official Vatican website or authorized vendors. Remember to bring a valid photo ID (passport or driver’s license), as entry requires identification matching the ticket.
For lunch or dinner nearby, try Ristorante Arlù, known for its fresh Roman cuisine and cozy atmosphere, or Trattoria da Cesare al Casaletto for authentic flavors loved by locals. For a more elegant evening, La Pergola offers a Michelin-starred experience with stunning views over Rome.
This day combines art, history, and the best tastes of Roman cuisine, which is a perfect balance after exploring the treasures of the Vatican.
Day 3: Head to the Amalfi Coast

The ancient ruins of Pompeii, with Mount Vesuvius in the background, showing stone streets and preserved Roman buildings under a clear sky
Today we’ll head south to the stunning Amalfi Coast. You’ll take a comfortable train to Naples, followed by a private transfer along the breathtaking coastal roads.
On the way, visit Pompeii, an ancient Roman city perfectly preserved under volcanic ash since the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Walking through its remarkably intact streets, homes, and theaters offers a vivid glimpse into daily life nearly 2,000 years ago, making it one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites in the world.
Your journey continues to the Amalfi Coast, a true natural masterpiece. Dramatic cliffs plunge into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea, dotted with colorful villages like Positano and Amalfi, terraced lemon groves, and winding roads that reveal spectacular panoramic views at every turn. This coastline combines raw natural beauty with charming culture and history, a place where sea, sun, and mountains meet in perfect harmony. Everyone should visit to experience its unique magic, breathtaking scenery, and the warm, vibrant spirit of Southern Italy.
Day 4: Hike along the Path of the Gods

This trail is renowned for its dramatic scenery and peaceful nature, perfect for both avid hikers and casual walkers seeking unforgettable panoramas.
After the hike, enjoy a delicious lunch in the charming village of Nocelle, perched high above the coast, often called “the village above the sky.” Try Rifugio Dei Mele, where you can savor authentic Italian dishes paired with stunning views of the Amalfi Coast. It’s the perfect spot to relax and refuel with fresh, local flavors in a cozy, unforgettable setting. Highly recommended!
Day 5: Take the ferry to Capri

View of Capri town from the sea, with colorful houses along the coastline
Take a scenic 35-minute ferry ride to the legendary island of Capri, a timeless escape for the world’s stylish travelers and lovers of la dolce vita. Explore its chic boutiques, dramatic cliffs, turquoise grottos, and elegant piazzas. Glamour, nature, and charm all in one dazzling destination. Each spot combines authentic flavors with beautiful island ambience—perfect for a memorable midday meal.

The best time to visit
Spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) offer mild weather, fewer crowds, and vibrant scenery. Summer can be hot and crowded, while winter is quieter, but some attractions and ferry services may be limited. These shoulder seasons provide the perfect balance of comfort, beauty, and authentic local experiences. For inspiration, watch The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), a film that beautifully showcases the stunning views of Positano, Salerno, and Rome. It’s a perfect way to get a glimpse of the elegance, charm, and breathtaking landscapes that await on this journey.
