Advisor - Eight Days on a Seine River Cruise
Curator’s statement

A Uniworld boutique river cruise is such a great experience. From only having to unpack once, to getting the most from each destination that you visit, it is the best way to experience Europe in a short amount of time. And since everything is included in your fare cost, we find it to be a very affordable vacation. If a two-night stay in Paris is included in your fare, make the most of your time before boarding the ship.

Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Christine to book your trip.

Day 1: Check into the Ambassador

Check into the Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador for a two-night stay. Spend the afternoon at one of the many outdoor cafes, then browse the shops at Galeries Lafayette, or start at the Louvre, then stroll down the Champs-Élysées to end up at the Arc de Triomphe to snap some great photos.

Day 2: Montmartre

Base of the Eiffel Tower at the Carousel de la Tour Eiffel

Spend the morning in Montmartre, visit Sacré-Cœur, and make your way down the hill through some charming streets toward the Seine. Pick up a baguette, some ham (jambon) and some cheese (fromage) along the way before stopping at the base of the Eiffel Tower to have an authentic Parisian picnic on the banks of the Seine next to the Carousel de la Tour Eiffel.

Day 3: Giverny

Claude Monet's home, overlooking his front yard, Giverny

Take a day trip to Giverny to visit Monet's home and gardens. Visit the iconic lily pond and Japanese bridge that inspired his Impressionist masterpieces. Then visit his home and overlook his yard filled with wildflowers from his bedroom window. It was a true "pinch me" moment for me.

Day 4: Rouen

Rouen Cathedral

Go on a walking Tour of Rouen. Discover the Gothic Rouen Cathedral, Gros Horloge, and the site where Joan of Arc was martyred.

Pick up some authentic French macarons at a local bakery or hand-painted pottery in one of their many shops.

Day 5: Honfleur

Honfleur

Spend the day in the charming fishing village of Honfleur. A local artist will paint the surrounding scenery while you browse the many gift shops, enjoy a cafe au lait while you wait for your masterpiece to be completed, or watch the fishing boats return with their catch of the day.

Day 6: Normandy D-Day landing beaches

Omaha Beach, Normandy

Take a Normandy D-Day landing beaches tour. Visit Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, and the Caen Memorial Museum.

This is an emotional and reflective day where you can place a white rose on the grave of a fallen soldier—a respectful and informative tribute to WWII history.

Day 7: Versailles

Palace of Versailles

Visit Château de Versailles to explore the palace and gardens of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette.

Day 8: Paris

Notre Dame Cathedral

Spend a last day in Paris.

Go on a morning city tour including Notre-Dame, Eiffel Tower, or Musée d'Orsay self-guided exploration.

Visit the Latin Quarter for some flea market shopping.

Have lunch at Le Grand Colbert on Rue Vivienne after visiting the Palais Royal Gardens.
