Cash is useful, even though most hotels and restaurants take cards—small shops, taxis, and beach bars often prefer EC dollars.
Taxis are reliable but not metered, so ask for the fare before you start your ride.
Driving is on the left, and you’ll need a temporary local permit if renting a car.
Beaches are all public, even those in front of big resorts—feel free to explore freely.
Mosquito repellent is helpful, especially around dusk or if you plan to dine outdoors.
Water is generally safe to drink, but many visitors still opt for bottled water in more remote areas.
Sunsets are incredible, and some of the best spots include Cockleshell Bay, Oualie Beach, and Pinney’s Beach.
The pace is intentionally slow, so expect “island time” when it comes to service—relaxed and friendly.
Respect local culture, especially on Sundays when many shops close and locals attend church.
Wild monkeys roam both islands—they’re fun to watch but don’t feed them.
Hiking is rewarding, but trails can be steep—go with a guide for Mount Liamuiga or Nevis Peak.
Snorkeling is best at Shitten Bay, Pinney’s, Oualie Beach, and South Friar’s Bay.
Weather is warm year-round, but December–April is the driest and most popular season.
