Curator’s statement

Singapore is a fantastic choice for a pre-cruise stop! It's a clean, safe and efficient city with a fascinating blend of cultures, delicious food and plenty of things to see and do. Depending on your interests, you could easily spend two to three days exploring Singapore. However, even a one-day layover would give you a taste of the city.

Things to do in Singapore

The image features illuminated, tree-like structures at night, creating a striking contrast against the dark sky.
  • Immerse yourself in nature at the Gardens by the Bay, where you will see futuristic-looking supertrees, as well as several themed gardens, including a cloud forest and a flower dome. I recommend doing this at sunset so you can see the light show.

  • Explore the vibrant neighborhoods of Singapore. Visit Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the different cultures.

  • Do some shopping at Orchard Road, the most famous shopping street in Singapore. It is lined with luxury stores, department stores, and boutiques.

  • Go on a food adventure. Singapore is a foodie paradise, with a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. Hawker centers are a great place to try local dishes at affordable prices.

  • The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a 163-year-old tropical garden that houses over 10,000 species of flora and fauna. Here you can marvel at the National Orchid Garden, explore the Learning Forest or relax by Swan Lake.

  • At night, walk along The Esplana and then watch a performance at the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay.

  • Visit the Singapore Zoo, which is one of the best zoos in the world with over 2,800 different animals.

  • Explore the Marina Bay Sands. Here you can see a light show, enjoy the waterfront promenad, see the amazing hotel or do some glamorous shopping at the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Places to eat & drink in Singapore

A view from above inside a Singaporean restaurant of diners at a luxurious restaurant with white tablecloths, and tempting dishes.
  • The Dempsey Cookhouse - Frequented mostly by locals, you must try the kale and broccoli salad and the seared sea trout.

  • North Miznon Singapore- Israeli street food made to share. The pita bread is fresh and delicious, as is the hummus and the kebab.

  • Spago Restaurant at the top of The Marina Bay Sands- The most beautiful restaurant overlooking the whole city.

  • Tiong Bahru Market - Opens early in the morning and closes early in the afternoon. Ideal for breakfast or lunch.
