I’ve seen people either have the best trip of their life here…or feel like it was mid. And it all came down to planning. This guide is everything you need to do it the right way.

Things to do in Punta Cana

This is why you don’t stay at the resort all day.
Saona Island Excursion: The water here looks fake—that’s clear. Boat party vibes going there, calm paradise when you arrive.
Scape Park: Ziplining, caves, cenotes, and a famous blue lagoon you can jump into. Worth leaving the resort for.
Bavaro Beach walk: One of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Soft sand, palm trees, and perfect sunset walks.
Private catamaran cruise: If you’re going with friends or a partner, this is a must. Music, drinks, and open ocean views.
ATV jungle tours: Dirty, fun, and chaotic in the best way. You’ll go through mud, trails, and local villages.
Coco Bongo Night Show: Not just a club—it’s a full performance. Lights, dancers, music… feels like Vegas in DR.
Hoyo Azul (Blue Hole): A hidden turquoise lagoon inside a cliff. Quick but unforgettable stop.
Places to eat & drink in Punta Cana

Outside the resort hits different.
La Yola Restaurant: Built over the water. Seafood, sunset views, and a more upscale vibe.
Jellyfish Restaurant: Beachfront dining with a relaxed but classy feel. Great for pictures, too.
Captain Cook Restaurant: Known for fresh lobster and seafood. Feels local and authentic.
Noah Restaurant & Lounge: Trendy, modern, and a break from resort food. Good for date nights.
Onno’s Bavaro: Casual, fun, tacos, drinks, and music. Good pregame spot.
Kat’s Corner: Small, underrated spot with really good food. Feels like a hidden gem.
Need to know
Cap Cana vs Bávaro matters. Cap Cana is quieter, luxurious, and cleaner while Bávaro is more affordable with more nightlife options.
Transportation is everything. Don’t rely on random taxis. Pre-book transfers or private drivers.
Not all all-inclusives are equal. Some have amazing food…others are just okay. This is where planning matters.
Book excursions early. Prices go up and spots fill fast—especially in peak season.
Bring small cash bills (USD). Tips go a long way and service gets even better.
Travel insurance is worth it here. Flights and weather can be unpredictable at times.
