Day 1: Arrive in Antibes

Antibes

Check into your hotel and get ready to explore! Antibes is the perfect base for discovering the glamour and beauty of the French Riviera. This charming coastal town blends old-world charm with seaside elegance, making it an ideal starting point for your adventure. Lose yourself in the cobblestone streets of Old Antibes, where colorful markets, chic boutiques, and inviting cafés spill onto lively squares. From art galleries and fresh Provençal cuisine to stunning views of the Mediterranean, you’ll find countless ways to soak in the Riviera’s magic before venturing out to neighboring towns.

Day 2: Day trip to Cannes

View of Cannes from Old Town

Just a short 45-minute ride by taxi or Uber, Cannes is a must-see stop along the Riviera. Famous for its film festival and undeniable glamour, the city offers so much more than red carpets. Begin your day in the charming Old Town (Le Suquet), where winding cobblestone lanes lead you to picture-perfect viewpoints of the city and the sparkling sea. The climb comes with steep hills and plenty of steps, but the breathtaking panoramas are well worth it.

Next, head to the world-renowned Boulevard de la Croisette, where palm-lined promenades showcase elegant hotels, designer boutiques, and stunning Mediterranean views. This is the place to soak in Cannes’ iconic luxury and seaside beauty.

For lunch, wander through Marché Forville, the city’s bustling open-air market. From colorful fruit and fresh seafood to decadent cheeses, pastries, and charcuterie, you’ll find a delicious selection of Provençal specialties—perfect for creating your own picnic spread.

In the afternoon, escape the crowds with a boat ride to the Lérins Islands. This tranquil archipelago of four islands, just offshore from Cannes, is a hidden gem offering swimming, snorkeling, and peaceful trails surrounded by nature. It’s the perfect way to unwind before heading back to the Riviera mainland.

Day 3: A day in Antibes

Antibes Beach

Start your morning with a walking tour to get acquainted with the city’s rich history, charming streets, and stunning coastal views. A guided stroll through Antibes is the perfect way to orient yourself for the week ahead while discovering hidden gems you might otherwise miss—think centuries-old ramparts, bustling markets, and tucked-away squares buzzing with local life.

In the afternoon, shift gears and embrace Antibes’ seaside beauty. Reserve a pair of beach chairs at the Royal Antibes Beach Club, where crystal-clear waters meet golden sands. Whether you’re swimming, sunbathing, or sipping a refreshing cocktail by the shore, this is the quintessential Riviera experience. Don’t forget your sunscreen—the Mediterranean sun is strong, and you’ll want to soak in every minute of it comfortably!

As the day winds down, head into Old Antibes for dinner. Choose from cozy bistros serving Provençal specialties, lively brasseries with outdoor terraces, or elegant seafood restaurants offering the catch of the day. Afterward, take a leisurely sunset stroll along the Cap d’Antibes coastal path, where the warm evening light glows over the Mediterranean. It’s the perfect way to end a day steeped in Antibes’ charm and beauty.

Day 4: Day trip to St. Tropez

View of port

Begin your adventure by boarding a boat from the port of Cannes to St. Tropez. The journey itself is a highlight, offering stunning views of the French Riviera’s dramatic coastline and sparkling waters—a preview of the glamour awaiting you.

Once in St. Tropez, lose yourself in the charm of its narrow, cobblestone streets, lined with pastel-colored houses, chic boutiques, art galleries, and cozy cafés. Whether you’re browsing designer shops or people-watching from a sunny terrace, every corner exudes Riviera allure.

Down at the harbor, admire the dazzling yachts that symbolize St. Tropez’s legendary reputation. The mix of traditional fishing boats and gleaming superyachts creates a fascinating snapshot of the town’s blend of old-world charm and modern luxury.

For a taste of history, make your way to the 17th-century Citadel, perched above the town. Once a fortress protecting St. Tropez, it now offers panoramic views over the bay and beyond. The climb is well worth it for both the scenery and the glimpse into the town’s storied past.

If time allows, linger into the evening to enjoy the vibrant energy of St. Tropez’s nightlife, with its stylish beach clubs, open-air restaurants, and lively bars—perfect for ending your day on a quintessentially Riviera note.

Day 5: Day trip to Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo

Begin your day with a visit to the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, the official residence of the Grimaldi family. Perched high above the city, the palace offers sweeping views of the harbor and Mediterranean. Time your visit right and you might even catch the ceremonial changing of the guard—a tradition that adds to the palace’s grandeur.

Next, escape the midday sun at the world-renowned Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, this museum is as impressive for its architecture as for its exhibits. Inside, discover dazzling aquariums, marine life displays, and fascinating oceanography exhibits that captivate both kids and adults.

In the afternoon, step into the dazzling world of luxury at the Monte Carlo Casino. Whether you’re snapping photos of its opulent façade, exploring the elegant interior, or trying your luck at the tables, this legendary casino is a must-see symbol of Monte Carlo’s glamour. Even if gambling isn’t on your list, the experience alone is unforgettable.

For those with extra energy, consider a quick train ride to Menton, a colorful coastal town known for its lemon groves, pastel buildings, and relaxed charm. It’s a refreshing contrast to the high-energy luxury of Monte Carlo and makes for a lovely addition to your Riviera adventure.

Need to know

Ubers and trains provide great transportation between cities. If you are hoping for beach chairs, I would recommend booking early. The French Riviera promises something for everyone.
