Advisor - Golden Days in LA: An Elegant 3-Day Mother-Daughter Getaway
Curator’s statement

A few years back, I needed to go to LA, and decided it would be a fun idea to invite my mom for a mother-daughter trip. I’ve always enjoyed traveling with my mom, but it was rare that it is ever just the two of us. Turns out LA was perfect for a quick sunshine filled get-away, which we both now reminisce about all the time. Time is precious, so when you can spend it with the important people in your life, it’s always worth every penny.

Where to stay

Day 1: Ladies who lunch & shop

Try the famous McCarthy Salad from the Polo Lounge.

Ease into your LA getaway with an early check-in before heading to lunch at the iconic Polo Lounge, where old Hollywood charm meets timeless California luxury. Spend the afternoon shopping (or even window shopping) from Rodeo Drive (...when in Rome, right!) to Santa Monica (my favorite was The Post Duck—a stylish consignment shop), with a stop in Petitgrain Boulangerie for what might be the best croissants on the West Coast—truly not to be joked with. Wander down the Santa Monica boardwalk for people-watching and golden hour views before going to dinner at Not No Bar, a stylish spot to toast the start of a memorable mother-daughter trip.

Day 2: Art, culture & cocktails

The Getty Museum

Start the morning slowly with breakfast at the hotel—if you’re staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the lemon ricotta pancakes are an absolute must. Spend the late morning exploring The Getty Center before lunch at the museum’s cafe with sweeping views over LA. Continue the afternoon across town, visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art before returning to the hotel to unwind with a cocktail—or better yet, a frosé by the pool. This was a first-time surprise for my mom, who ended up finding a new favorite drink! Finish the day dressing up a bit and having a delicious Italian meal at Osteria Mozza in the Melrose District.

Day 3: Spa & poolside quality time

The pool at The Beverly Hills Hotel

I recommend dedicating the last day to slowing down together with a relaxing morning of spa treatments at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Afterwards, enjoy a light lunch at The Fountain Coffee Room—order the Gary Salad with a Green Envy Juice, and split a side of french fries with mom. Spend the rest of the afternoon lounging by the pool, soaking up as much precious time together as possible under the California sunshine.

Need to know

  • No need to rent a car. Uber around the city, but remember that there is a lot of traffic in the LA area, so plan accordingly.

  • Bring some cash to tip hotel staff, including the housekeeping staff who clean your room!
