Things to do in Verbier, Switzerland

Buy a pedestrian day pass and have lunch at Le Dahu.

  • Ski the Four Valleys: Verbier is the gateway to the 4Vallées, Switzerland’s largest linked ski area. For a scenic run with a local feel, head to the slopes of La Crevasse (often referred to by locals as La Rouche).

  • Conquer Mont Fort: Take the cable car to the summit of Mont Fort (3,330m) for 360-degree views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. Even non-skiers and snowshoers can access this with a pedestrian pass. Have lunch at Le Mouton Noir.

  • The ultimate descent: While at the peak, thrill-seekers can take on the Mont 4 Zipline, a 1,400-meter flight over the Tortin glacier.

  • Mountaintop memories: Book a professional mountaintop photoshoot to capture your group against the jagged Alpine skyline, perfect for high-end holiday cards or social memories.

  • Husky sledding: For a truly bucket-list experience, book a husky-drawn sled ride through the quiet, snow-covered forests of the Bagnes Valley. It’s the perfect way to soak in the scenery at a slower pace.

  • The art of the spa: After a day on the slopes, retreat to Le Spa at the W Verbier for a signature treatment to reset your muscles and enjoy their indoor/outdoor pool.

  • Après-ski at Le Rouge: Sophisticated yet high-energy après-ski experience often described as "Ibiza in the snow.” Reservations will guarantee you a spot.

Places to eat & drink in Verbier, Switzerland

The iconic Chez Dany Snow Taxi—an essential Verbier experience. Be sure to reserve your ride a few days in advance.

  • Chez Dany: This cozy, rustic-chic restaurant serves exceptional local Swiss cuisine as well as some international dishes. Accessible during the winter months by foot, ski, or snow taxi at night. During the summer months, drive, bike, or walk to enjoy the views. Open for lunch and dinner, it is a quintessential Verbier experience; just be sure to leave room for their tiramisu.

  • Le Rouge Restaurant & Après-Ski: This multi-level chalet features two panoramic sun-soaked terraces where you can transition from an exceptional lunch of truffle fondue or slow-cooked lamb into a vibrant celebration fueled by resident DJs and world-renowned guest artists. Le Rouge offers an iconic atmosphere where sheepskin throws and old-wood elegance meet a joyful, euphoric social scene that captures the very essence of the Verbier experience.

  • La Table D’ Adrien: This Michelin-starred restaurant offers an unparalleled journey through contemporary Italian-inspired flavors, all crafted with the finest locally sourced ingredients from the Valais.

  • Au Viux Verbier: Perfectly positioned at the foot of the Médran lift, this is the perfect spot for a long, sun-drenched lunch or a cozy dinner after the slopes. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and rustic. If you are looking to indulge in sublime Swiss classics, their fondue is mouth-watering.

  • Le Dahu: Enjoy the panoramic views at this mountain hub while grabbing a quick wood-fired pizza or taking time for a long lunch. This is an essential stop in the 4Vallées.

  • Brasserie 1519: Located in the heart of the village, this trendy spot offers a modern and chic atmosphere that perfectly captures Verbier's high-energy lifestyle. The menu features a selection of tapas, signature tartares, and flame-grilled dishes, all masterfully crafted by Michelin-starred chef Sergi Arola.

Need to know

  • When to go: January through March offers the best snow conditions. February (especially European school holidays) is extremely busy.

  • Getting there: The easiest access is via Geneva, about 2–2.5 hours by car or train.

  • Local transport: Once in town, the free shuttle buses are the best way to move between Médran, Savoleyres, and the village center. If you have a ski pass, the gondola between Le Châble and Verbier is also included.

  • Secure your table early: In Verbier, the best tables are the most coveted. For high-demand mountain lunches—like the iconic Mouton Noir—or popular village dinner spots, reservations are a must. During peak weeks, aim to book at least two to three weeks ahead.

  • The après-ski transition: The energy in town shifts early. Starting around 4 pm, the terraces fill up, and the music kicks in. Don't be surprised if your casual afternoon drink turns into a full-blown dance scene before the sun even sets—it’s all part of the Verbier charm.

  • Mountain chic: While the après scene is high-energy, the vibe remains "mountain chic." You’ll feel right at home heading straight from the lifts to the bar, but most guests swap their helmets for a stylish beanie or fedora to transition into the evening.
