Advisor - Fire & Ice: A Guide to Iceland
Curator’s statement

Iceland has to be one of my top destinations to travel to! It doesn’t matter the season or what you’re looking for out of your trip, Iceland has it all. All the views are stunning whether blanketed in snow or vibrantly green. Summer provides a wonderful opportunity to see the lupine bloom and take in the 24-hour sun, all while soaking in a geothermal hot spring. Winter is a wonderland filled with blue, dazzling glacier ice and the northern lights.

Things to do in Iceland

  • Ice caving: An easy adventure for those that love to explore natural wonders. New ice caves form in the glaciers every winter and you’re able to tour them.

  • Geothermal hot spring spas: Dive into an age-old Icelandic tradition of soaking in a hot spring heated by the area’s volcanic activity. There are natural ones you can hike out to or spas that provide all the amenities.

  • Chasing waterfalls: Known for the sheer number of waterfalls, taking the Ring Road allows you to see several along with geysers!

  • Lava show: The only of its kind, offered in both Vik and Reykjavik, you get to learn about volcanoes and see a demonstration of flowing magma!

  • Hiking: With so much wilderness to explore, it is so hard to choose where to start. If you want off-the-beaten-path, head west and north. If you’re looking for easy with still getting a good taste of Iceland, head south and along the Ring Road.

  • Aurora sighting: Being so close to the Arctic Circle provides you with an amazing opportunity to see the Northern Lights. Book a tour or take your car away from the city and chase the dancing lights.

Places to eat & drink in Iceland

  • Dieg Workshop: Probably the best bagel sandwich I’ve ever had!

  • Lemon: Traditional baked goods.

  • Reykjavik Food Tour: LOVE the diversity of food.

  • Brikk: Off the main strip and tucked across the street from Hygge. Think all things baked.

  • Hygge: Another bakery to steal your heart.

Need to know

Always pack layers and a rain jacket. Watch the car doors when you open them, it gets WINDY. Plan on paying with CC for the majority of the trip.
