Curator’s statement

Sedona is an otherworldly landscape of glowing red rocks, dramatic sunsets, and peaceful desert air. You can enjoy daytime hiking adventures capped off by stargazing and amazing cuisine at night. It was a captivating location to share a celebratory long weekend with my sisters.

Things to do in Sedona, AZ

  • Take a hike: Sedona is home to the Coconino National Forest with around 200 hiking and multi-use trails. Head out for a leisurely nature hike or a more strenuous climb such as Cathedral Rock Trail with one of the most photographed views. Pro tip: Don’t forget your binoculars to check out the 200+ bird species that inhabit or migrate through the region. It’s a great opportunity to add to your “life list.”

  • Go shopping: If you are interested in local art and jewelry, head over to Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village. Its charming courtyards, wine tastings, art galleries, and local crafts can easily fill an afternoon.

  • Hire a private Reiki guide and experience an energy vortex: Reiki guides offer sessions to channel healing energy for relaxation, emotional balance, and spiritual well-being. My party paired this experience with a meditative hike at the vortex site, Bell Rock. While there are many reiki options, I recommend Spirit Flow Sedona for a private and professional guided experience.

  • Visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross: Built directly into the red rock cliffs, the Chapel of the Holy Cross offers panoramic views of Sedona. Enjoy a moment of quiet reflection or marvel at the views overlooking the altar. Pro tip: Go early as parking is limited and traffic backups are common during peak hours.
