Curator’s statement
Cabo San Lucas is special to me because I planned this trip for my mother’s 60th birthday during a season when she needed joy, rest, and something beautiful to look forward to after the loss of her mother. It was so fulfilling to create an experience centered around the things we love most: authentic Mexican food, time by the water, shopping, tequila tastings, great drinks, and good company. Cabo’s vibrant culture, beautiful scenery, and welcoming locals made the trip feel even more meaningful. This experience reminded me how powerful travel can be when it’s planned with intention, heart, and the people you love in mind.

Day 1: Arrival in Cabo & a street food welcome

A flavorful first night in Cabo, exploring local bites and authentic street food at Mercabo Gourmet Food
Start your Cabo getaway by arriving in Los Cabos, picking up your rental car, and heading to your accommodations to settle in and refresh after travel. I recommend keeping the first day light and easy so you can ease into vacation mode without feeling rushed.
In the evening, dive right into Cabo’s local food scene with a street food tasting experience, where you can enjoy authentic bites, explore different vendors, and connect with fellow travelers along the way. One of the most memorable parts of our evening was meeting other travelers on the tour from Las Vegas and Arizona, who we still keep in contact with today.
Afterward, take time to walk around, enjoy the nighttime scenery, and circle back to any favorite spots from the tasting, especially for a sweet treat like pineapple and strawberry tamales.

A note from Brittany
Keep your first evening flexible in case of flight delays, bring a little cash for food stands or tips, and wear comfortable shoes so you can stroll, snack, and soak in the atmosphere.
Day 2: Brunch, beach camel ride & tequila tasting

Beach camel ride along the Pacific coast
Start the day with brunch at Casasola Cafe & Brunch before heading out for one of Cabo’s most memorable adventure experiences: a beach camel ride. This tour takes you along the Pacific coastline to Tierra Sagrada, also known as “The Sacred Ranch,” where you can enjoy desert scenery, oceanfront views, and a unique camel ride by the sea.
Along with the adventure, you’ll also get a taste of local culture through a delicious Mexican buffet, tequila tasting, a hands-on chocolate-making experience, and fun animal encounters like meeting colorful parrots. I recommend this experience for travelers who want something playful, scenic, cultural, and different. It is also a family-friendly adventure that works well for couples, friend groups, and multi-generational trips.

A note from Brittany
Wear comfortable clothes and secure shoes, bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat, and confirm your pickup time in advance since transportation is often included from many hotels. Check height, weight, and mobility requirements before booking, and review the photo package before purchasing so you only buy the shots you love.
Day 3: Medano Beach day & birthday dinner at RosaNegra

Sunny beach views from Playa El Médano, a favorite Cabo spot for swimming, lounging, and exploring nearby water activities
Spend the day at Playa El Médano, also known as Medano Beach, one of Cabo’s most popular swimmable beaches and a great place to enjoy a full beach day. This is the perfect spot to slow down, enjoy the water, lounge with beach towels and floaties, and explore the different beach activities and rentals that may be available, such as snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, jet skiing, parasailing, or water bikes.
I recommend grabbing lunch from a casual beachfront spot or palapa-style restaurant where you can enjoy local flavor without overcomplicating the day. Having a rental car made this day even easier for quick stops, including Walmart runs for sunscreen, snacks, drinks, or anything else needed before heading to the beach.
In the evening, celebrate with dinner at RosaNegra Latin American Cuisine, a beautiful and intimate restaurant with a grown-and-sexy atmosphere, live entertainment, fire elements, music, and dancing. For the best experience, make a reservation around the showtime and request a table near the performance area so you can fully enjoy the energy of the night. This is a great pick for a birthday, anniversary, girls’ trip dinner, or special occasion when you want the night to feel elevated and memorable.

A note from Brittany
Not every beach in Cabo is swimmable, so choose beaches like Medano if getting in the water is part of the plan. Pack sunscreen, sunglasses, towels, sandals or water shoes, and floaties, then plan enough time after the beach to go back, shower, and dress up for dinner.
Day 4: Downtown Cabo, tequila tasting & Italian dinner

Exploring downtown Cabo San Lucas, from local tastings and shopping to spontaneous stops along the way
After a late night of birthday dinner and entertainment, start the morning slow with time by the pool to rest, reset, and enjoy a little quiet before heading back out. Ease into the day with a relaxed lunch at Las Guacamayas Downtown CSL, then spend time walking through downtown Cabo San Lucas, shopping, exploring, and enjoying the lively atmosphere at your own pace. A fun stop to add is Fish Spa Cabo San Lucas for a unique fish pedicure experience, so bring cash for spontaneous activities, tips, or smaller vendors while walking around.
One of the highlights of the day is a private tasting at Santos Destilados, where you can sample different tequilas, learn more about the flavors, and even try traditional tasting pairings like crickets, which are commonly served with certain Mexican spirits for a salty, crunchy bite. Coffee lovers should look out for Santos Destilados Licor de Café; even as someone who does not drink coffee, I snagged one to take back! If you plan to bring bottles home, leave extra room and weight allowance in your suitcase. After more exploring, shopping, and drinks at Uno Más, end the night with dinner at Salvatore G’s, a delicious Italian spot that offers a nice change of pace after enjoying so much amazing Mexican food throughout the trip.
Day 5: Flora Farms & sunset cruise finale

Sunset views by the Arch of Cabo San Lucas during our final dinner cruise
Begin your final day at Flora Farms, a 25-acre organic oasis nestled in the foothills. This beloved farm-to-table destination offers fresh, seasonal dining and unique shops like the James Perse Concept Store and the Culinary Cottages. Explore the gardens, snap photos in the flower fields, and enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere. A sweet touch was the handwritten birthday chalkboard, which made the morning extra special.
After Flora Farms, relax before heading on a sunset Mexican dinner cruise. With unlimited food, drinks, and live music, you’ll sail past the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Watch for playful sea lions on your return. End the night with one last downtown stroll before heading back to relax and pack. The rental car gave us the freedom to fully enjoy this variety of experiences.
Need to know
Cabo is a beautiful destination, but it helps to plan with intention. Not every beach in Cabo is swimmable, so if getting in the water is important, choose beaches like Playa El Médano and always pay attention to local flags and conditions. A rental car was very helpful for this trip because it gave us the flexibility to explore at our own pace, make quick Walmart runs, visit Flora Farms, check out different areas, and avoid feeling tied to one location.
For special occasion dinners, make reservations in advance and ask about showtimes or seating near the entertainment when booking places like RosaNegra. Bring cash for tips, small vendors, fish spa stops, beach rentals, and spontaneous experiences while exploring downtown.
If you plan to purchase tequila, mezcal, or liqueurs to bring home, leave extra room and weight allowance in your checked bag. I also recommend packing sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable shoes, beach sandals, a swimsuit, a nice dinner outfit, and a flexible attitude, because some of the best Cabo moments happen when you leave room to explore.
Whether you are planning a girls’ trip, family getaway, couples’ escape, guys’ trip, solo adventure, or special celebration, Cabo can be tailored to fit the experience you want. I would love to help you plan a meaningful trip filled with beautiful moments and memories that last a lifetime.
