Need to know
Getting around
Driving is on the left side of the road, with the steering wheel on the right—but don't worry, you adapt quickly! Many rental companies also offer cars with steering wheels on the left-hand side if you snag one!
Groceries & essentials
Head straight to Foster's Supermarket when you arrive—they have everything you need to stock up for your stay.
One surprise for first-timers: Major supermarkets are closed on Sundays due to the island's strong religious traditions, so plan your grocery run accordingly.
Dining
Book dinner reservations well in advance, especially during peak season—the best restaurants fill up fast!
Money
The official currency is the Cayman Islands dollar, but U.S. dollars are accepted almost everywhere.
Safety
Grand Cayman is one of the safest destinations in the Caribbean—you can comfortably walk around the island, and families will feel at ease exploring!
Best time to visit
Peak season runs December through April with ideal weather, while May through November offers better deals but more rain due to hurricane season.
Cruise ship days
Grand Cayman welcomes over a million cruise visitors annually, so check the port schedule and plan popular attractions on lighter cruise ship days to avoid the crowds.
