Advisor - Argentina Queer Pride & Nature: Iguazú Falls, Iberá Wetlands & Queer Buenos Aires
Curator’s statement

Argentina is where raw natural wonder meets cosmopolitan culture—and it’s deeply personal to me as a queer, local guide. I design journeys that honor our layered stories, from Indigenous understandings of gender to contemporary LGBTQIA+ activism, while centering sustainability and regeneration. This itinerary connects travelers not just to iconic sights, but also to communities and landscapes that are healing, resisting, and inviting us to tread more thoughtfully. From the roar of Iguazú Falls to the quiet magic of the Iberá Wetlands and Buenos Aires’s queer nightlife, this is about traveling deeper, with respect, joy, and local insight at every turn.

Wake up to jungle sounds and spend the day exploring the Argentine side of Iguazú National Park. Walk the elevated upper trails for sweeping views, then descend closer to the power of the cascades on the lower paths. Return to the hotel for a quiet evening to unwind.

Day 3: Explore a private reserve

Coatí, one of the typical species encountered at the reserve

Spend the day at the private reserve of famed Argentine photographer Emilio White. Choose your adventure: kayak silent waterways, hike secluded trails, focus your camera on stunning wildlife, or birdwatch with expert guidance. Enjoy homemade meals inspired by Guaraní cultural roots and learn the traditional art of harvesting and preparing mate. If timing is right, Emilio himself may join you to share stories and his vision for this beautifully preserved natural haven.

Spend the morning on a curated shopping experience—explore independent designers, local crafts, and artisan markets with insider guidance to find truly special souvenirs. In the evening, learn tango with a private queer-friendly class where traditional roles are tossed aside for fluid, inclusive movement. After the lesson, head to an authentic milonga to test your new steps or simply soak in the atmosphere over a glass of Malbec.

Day 8: Travel to Posadas

Say goodbye to the city bustle and fly north to Posadas. From there, travel to El Tránsito, a historic estancia in the heart of the Iberá Wetlands. Arrive in time to settle into your elegant room and enjoy your first dinner overlooking the vast, wild landscape. Expect quiet, star-filled nights and the gentle sounds of the wetlands welcoming you.

Day 9: Horse-drawn canoeing & kayaking

Horse-powered canoes - the indigenous way of experiencing the destination

Ease into Iberá’s rhythm as you glide silently through the wetlands in a traditional horse-drawn canoe, the water mirroring the skies and herons rising from the reeds. Midday, share a meal in a local Guaraní hut and learn about the Indigenous connection to this land. In the afternoon, trade hooves for paddles as you kayak through quiet waterways, watching capybaras and caimans from the surface of the lagoons.

Day 10: Horseback riding & boat safari

Carpinchos, better known as capybaras, are indigenous and abundant

Wake to the sounds of waterbirds and saddle up for a morning adventure on horseback, splashing through flooded grasslands and spotting marsh deer hidden in the brush. Cap off your Iberá journey with a boat safari through remote corners of the reserve. Drift quietly past floating vegetation, eyes peeled for anhinga drying their wings, playful otters, and elusive howler monkeys. This is nature at its most raw and unfiltered—an unforgettable finale to a journey deep into one of Argentina’s most vital ecosystems. As the sun climbs high, slow the pace with a relaxing afternoon by the lodge pool, where ostriches roam freely and time seems to stretch with each breeze across the wetlands.

Day 11: Return home

El Tránsito

After one last breakfast at El Tránsito, transfer to Posadas for your flight to Buenos Aires or onward connections. Take with you memories of roaring waterfalls, quiet wetlands, and a city that celebrates its queer culture with pride and resilience—Argentina will always be ready to welcome you back.

Need to know

Argentina rewards travelers who embrace its rhythm: late dinners, long conversations over mate, and unhurried afternoons in leafy plazas. Buenos Aires is lively, progressive, and proudly queer-friendly, but customs can vary in smaller towns—discretion and local advice go a long way. Cash (pesos) is essential, as cards aren’t always accepted. For nature adventures, pack layers for warm days and cool nights, plus sturdy shoes. Most importantly, come curious and open—Argentina is a country that invites connection, with landscapes and communities that will stay with you long after you leave.
