Curator’s statement
The only thing you’ll be thinking while in Tbilisi is: why did I have to wait so long to visit this country. Georgia is a true gem with its pristine nature, warm hospitality, no-fuss-delicious cuisine, and direct flights from many European and international airports.

Things to do in Georgia

For a small fee, you can spend an afternoon enjoying the healing properties of the mineral water.
1. Explore the maze of the old town: The architecture is intricate and colorful, and you’ll be surprised by breathtaking views of the city as you walk up and down its cobbled roads.
2. Visit the trendy neighborhoods of Vera and Vake: The contrast with the old town will make you doubt you’re still in the same place!
3. While in Vake, take the ropeway to the Turtle Lake: The tiny cabin can take 5–6 people through the Vake Park all the way up to the wilder parts of the park and the lake. Trust me, it’s a unique experience!
4. Try and book hotels on both sides of the Kura River: You’ll find most of the attractions, shops, and the city center on the left bank—personally, I found the right bank more “local” and relaxing. Staying in the historic district of Avlabari will offer jaw-dropping views of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and life just seems a bit slower this side of the river.
5. Dare to explore further out and visit other towns! Borjomi is a historic resort famous for its mineral waters, and can be reached by bus (2.5 hours) or rail (4 hours). If you follow the main trail through the Central Park, it will lead you to the sulfur pools—a real treat!
Places to eat & drink in Georgia

You'll be surrounded by Van Gogh's masterpieces while enjoying the modern take on the Georgian cuisine at Van Goghi.
Sakhli 1904: A cozy and deceivingly spacious restaurant with a homemade feel and menu.
Veraze: Their menu has all the staples of the Georgian cuisine, and you’ll want to come back for their take on the Georgian salad!
Van Goghi: A modern take on the classics of the Georgian cuisine. The food is delicious and the place (and food!) is very Instagram-friendly—you get some hints on the menu.
Au Blé d’or Bakery & Cafe: They only use local flour and make their sourdough bread and pastries daily (try the walnut pie!). Local cheeses, farm eggs, and savory pastries are amazing as well.
Udabno Shop & Cafe: Farm-fresh eggs, dairy, vegan ice cream, and freshly baked pastries, all from their own regenerative farm.
Gardenia Shevardnadze: A quick drive from the city center, you find this botanical paradise with a very welcoming cafe. Try their homegrown infusion and cake of the day, or go savory, all made with fresh, local ingredients.
And definitely stop by Badagi for the Georgian staple sweet treat, churchkhela!
