Curator’s statement
Sweet, sweet Maui. If I could call it home, I would. Being on this island is truly amazing. The first time I experienced it, I got to adventure around on my own, find my own hidden gems, and explore with no plan. Weather you want a full beach day, adventure day, or relaxing day, Maui has it all and it would bring me so much joy to show you my favorite parts!

Things to do in Maui

Rainy day at the Maui Tropical Plantation
Maui Ocean Center
A small, quaint aquarium that has a beauty of its own and tells you all about the native marine life around the islands.
Maui Tropical Plantation
An old sugarcane plantation turned into stunning gardens, has a delicious restaurant, and even for the adventurous ones, zip lines! Walk around and take in the beauty and the history.
Molokini Crater snorkeling
Take a day tour by boat to the crater that once was an active volcanic crater that is now a beautiful and peaceful marine life sanctuary. You will lose track of time while swimming around and getting the best views of some stunning tropical fish
Haleakala National Park
A beautiful place that protects a dormant volcano that you will feel above the clouds. If you take the sunrise guided tour, you will literally get to see the sunrise above the clouds
Road to Hana
If small, narrow roads with winding turns for miles and miles, this day trip is for you! You will see the stunning jungle side of Maui, with gorgeous coastal views and amazing waterfalls. The best part is you may find some local people selling fresh foods like fruits and whole coconuts to drink!
Whale-watching
Some months of the year whale watching will be at an ultimate peak! You may spot them from your hotel, but a nice cruise around the island will give you front-row access to some amazing marine life activity, and if you are lucky, you will get to see plenty of whales!
Maui beaches
There is no such thing as a bad beach in Maui! Some may be a little more crowded. But a few of my favorites are off-the-beaten-path—Mamas Fish House Beach is a small cove beach that if your lucky, you’ll encounter some sea turtles taking a rest on the sand.
Makena Beach
End of a stunning drive with great coastal views. Some may think a little walk to get there, but definitely worth it.
Ulua Beach
Best for beach access snorkeling! Need I say more
Makawao Forrest Reserve
While driving to this location, you’re taken on a journey to a beautiful area with large trees that makes you think you are no longer in Hawai’i. Stunning large trees with some great walking trails. A way to get some exercise and admire the beauty, but highly recommend bringing a jacket as it can get a little cooler for the higher elevations and that it’s tucked away.
Places to eat & drink in Maui

Taking in the rainy forest views while waiting for the breakfast at Baked on Maui
Baked on Maui
This is my absolute favorite. It is tucked away in a neighborhood in Haiku and a little cafe that serves the best breakfast and lunch you will ever have.
Monkeypod
This is such a fun family experience, especially after a beach day. The servers are so nice and the food is amazing. Endless options for everyone.
Freshies Maui
A tucked-away breakfast spot that is in Makawao. This place is honestly my second runner up. They make the most amazing homemade POG juice (passion fruit, guava, orange).
Mamas Fish House
If you are looking for a luxury night out. A stunning upscale fish house with unique deserts and stunning views because it is ocean front.
Maui Brewing Company
Such a fun place for an end to a great day. Very family-friendly, yard games, and good food! They also have their own merch that one shouldn’t forget to get as a souvenir.
Flatbread Company
Located in Paia, this will be some of the most delicious pizza you will ever have. Upscale flatbreads with some really fun ingredients.
Ka’ana Kitchen
Absolutely delicious, authentic Hawaiian cuisine. You should not pass this place up it is amazing.
Need to know
When it comes to Maui, I like to tell people you have the best of all worlds. You drive a short distance and you get a jungle or forest. You get the open spaces of cows, chickens, goats, and a lot of cats. You get the upscale shopping and restaurants, and stunning beaches.
I fell in love with Maui the first time I went because of the kind people, the beauty of the land around me, and how time just slows down. It would be so special to be able to plan your next trip here!
