Curator’s statement
Puglia is the kind of place that invites you to slow down and savor every moment—where long lunches stretch into golden evenings and the simplest experiences feel the most authentic. It’s a region that feels both effortlessly beautiful and refreshingly unpretentious, offering a more intimate side of Italy. What makes it so special to me is how it balances charm, culture, and coastline without ever feeling overdone. It’s the kind of destination you visit once and immediately start dreaming about returning to.

Things to do in Puglia

Swimmers in the Adriatic Sea (Lido di Novaglie). Drone photo taken by me. (@LG_aerial_photography)
Explore Ostuni
Spend a day (or two) wandering the winding streets of this iconic whitewashed hill town. Every corner feels like a postcard, with stunning views, charming shops, and endless photo-worthy moments.
Visit Alberobello early
Famous for its fairytale-like trulli homes, Alberobello is a must-see—but timing is everything. Arrive early to enjoy it before the crowds, then linger with a Caffè Leccese and wander the quieter side streets for local finds.
Relax at a beach club in Monopoli
Spend a leisurely day at beach clubs like Lido Bambù or Le Palme, where crystal-clear water meets effortless Italian style. Think loungers, long lunches, and a perfectly chilled spritz in hand.
Wander through Lecce
Often called the “Florence of the South,” Lecce is known for its intricate Baroque architecture and vibrant atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to get lost for a day, discovering hidden piazzas, boutiques, and beautiful cafés.
Swim in the natural pools at the Lido di Novaglie
Tucked along the dramatic coastline, this natural swimming area carved into the rocks offers some of the most unique swimming in Puglia. Spend the day here jumping into the sea, relaxing by the water, and enjoying lunch and drinks nearby.
Sail from Santa Maria di Leuca
Charter a catamaran and explore Puglia from the water—one of the best ways to take in its rugged coastline and hidden coves. It’s an unforgettable way to spend a day, especially with a swim stop or two.
Take a cooking class at Palazzo Daniele
If you’re staying here, don’t miss the opportunity to join a cooking class. It’s a beautiful way to connect with the region’s culinary traditions and bring a piece of Puglia home with you.
Places to eat & drink in Puglia

Dinner at Masseria Moroseta. Photo taken by me.
Sant’Oronzo
A go-to spot in Ostuni for perfectly done, classic Italian pizza. Simple, flavorful, and exactly what you want after a day of exploring.
Masseria Moroseta
Book the blind tasting menu here—it’s one of the most memorable dining experiences in Puglia. Add the wine pairing (the sommelier is incredible), and be sure to reserve well in advance as it fills up quickly.
Gabo, Ostuni
The perfect spot for a relaxed drink on a beautiful patio. Come for the atmosphere, stay for the golden-hour glow and easy, laid-back vibe.
Pizzeria Da Leo, Santa Maria di Leuca
A local favorite worth seeking out—don’t miss the bresaola, parmesan, and lemon pizza. It’s fresh, bright, and unexpectedly perfect.
Osteria CasaCiaccia, Ostuni
A charming, authentic spot to try traditional Apulian dishes. Order the orecchiette with a bottle of local wine—often served simply, sometimes even unlabeled—for a true taste of the region.
Bloom Apulian Restaurant, Ostuni
Head here for an aperitif with sweeping views over Ostuni. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger a little longer as the sun sets over the white city.
Palazzo Daniele
An intimate and thoughtfully curated dining experience where each meal is prepared based on the number of guests. Expect beautifully simple, traditionally inspired dishes made with fresh, local ingredients—it feels more like a private dinner than a restaurant.
Need to know
Puglia is best experienced slowly. Plan to spend at least a few nights in each area rather than rushing through—the magic here is in lingering a little longer than planned.
Renting a car is essential. Many of the most beautiful towns, beaches, and masserias are spread out, and having your own car gives you the flexibility to explore at your own pace.
Timing matters, especially in the summer months. Visit popular spots like Alberobello early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid crowds and experience them at their best.
Reservations are key for top restaurants and experiences. Places like Masseria Moroseta and Palazzo Daniele book up well in advance, so plan ahead to secure the most memorable meals.
Embrace the local rhythm. Long lunches, relaxed evenings, and slower service are all part of the experience—once you settle into it, it becomes one of the most enjoyable parts of being in Puglia.
