Day 1: Arrive in Rome

You're likely to land into Rome in the morning or mid-day. Once you check into your hotel, be sure to start your day by grabbing an Italian pastry and a cappuccino. I highly recommend Antico Forno Roscioli!

From there, you will start your walking tour. To begin, make your way to the Trevi Fountain (It does tend to get busy, so the earlier the better)! A short walk from there, check out Vittoriano and Pantheon. You can book tickets to go inside, but these will need to be booked in advance. Another quick walk from here is the Spanish Steps, where you can get all those iconic photos.

After the day of walking and exploring, head over to Trastevere (neighborhood in Rome) and be ready to eat the most delicious food. Here you get the local feeling and you really can't beat the quality of the food. I recommend Dar Sor Olimpio al Drago for dinner.

Day 2: The tour continues

After your morning fix of pastries and espresso, book your tickets for an afternoon trip to Vatican City. There are various guided tours of St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and the Museum. This is a great way to understand the history behind the Vatican and all the beauty it holds.

After the tour is complete, make sure to stop off for some pizza — nothing beats Roman-style pizza. If you're feeling up for it, throw in an Aperol Spritz as well! The Italians know how to do their food and beverages right!

Day 3: Day trip

On this day, I highly recommend taking a day trip. Luckily, the high-speed trains are very convenient from Roma Termini, so this makes the options limitless! My personal favorite would be Florence, but other cities and sights are Orvieto, Tivoli and Naples.

Day 4: Gallery tours

Spend your morning at Galleria Borghese Museum (tickets are needed in advance). Afterwards, take a stroll through the Gardens of Villa Borghese to get a feel for the gorgeous Italian greenery.

If you want to continue on the greenery route, be sure to make a pit stop at Aventine Hill, otherwise known for the "Orange Gardens" for the best panoramic views of the city.

Day 5: A taste of history

Today is all about the Roman Gladiators. You will learn all about the history of the Colosseum and Roman Forum on this day. Although tickets do need to be booked in advance, there are also various tour options to get the full experience!
