Curator’s statement
Palm Springs holds a special place in my heart for its unique blend of natural beauty and vibrant culture. The desert landscape, with its stunning mountains and iconic palm trees, offers a sense of peace and tranquility that’s hard to find anywhere else. I also love the rich history of Palm Springs, from its mid-century modern architecture to its deep connection to Hollywood’s golden age. Whether it’s exploring the local art scene or relaxing by a pool, Palm Springs always feels like a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Things to do in Palm Springs

Hiking: Palm Springs has some of the most beautiful and interesting hikes for all abilities and ages. Some of my favorites included Indian Canyons and Tahquitz Canyon. The Palm Canyon Trail was easily assessable for our party of nine which included children aged five to fourteen.
Downtown Palm Springs: Downtown Palm Springs is a lively and charming area. The streets are lined with stylish boutiques, art galleries, trendy cafes, and upscale restaurants, offering a mix of shopping and dining experiences that cater to both locals and visitors. The palm-lined streets provide a beautiful backdrop to the mountain sky.
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway: Travel to the top of Mt. San Jacinto State Park where you can enjoy a meal and bask in the natural beauty of over 50 miles of hiking trails. I would recommend buying tickets in advance or visiting early in the day to avoid long lines.
Balloon ride: Fantasy Balloons was a crowd pleaser and provided a great sunrise view over the mountains. I highly recommend Steve as your pilot. He provided a wealth of knowledge about the area and had great stories!
Living Desert: The zoo offers a unique and immersive experience that brings visitors up close to the wildlife and ecosystems of deserts from around the world. Don't forget to feed the giraffes.
Shields Date Garden: The Cafe at Shields is not to be missed. Lots of history and a peaceful walk outside to learn about the history of dates.
Shopping: Not to be missed is the El Paseo shopping district in Desert Springs.
Palm Springs Air Museum: The museum showcases a stunning collection of vintage aircraft, many of which are still in flying condition.
Day trip:
Joshua Tree: Joshua Tree National Park was a family favorite. From hiking the trails to climbing the huge rocks, everyone was in awe. The park's otherworldly beauty and serene atmosphere make it a unique and tranquil escape, perfect for reconnecting with nature.
Places to eat & drink in Palm Springs

Breakfast
Cheekys: Make sure to order the bacon flight and cinnamon rolls!
Farm: I simply cannot resist the allure of crepes, particularly when they are crafted with the finest, most exquisite ingredients, transporting you to the charming streets of France with every bite.
The Cafe at Shileds Date Garden: Great cocktails and even better dishes. Don't leave before ordering the churo waffle!
Lunch/Dinner
Las Casuelas: Amazing from the drinks to dessert. The chips were always warm out of the oven and the guacamole was delicious.
Tac/Quila: Great magarita flight and great service. While there is not a kids menu posted online there is a great kids menu selection at the restaurant.
Birba: Enjoy dining outside while enjoying an amazing pizza and cocktail.
