Hotel Review: Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam
Curator’s statement

I recently had a brief, one-night stay at the Kimpton De Witt after a river cruise, and it was perfect for my needs. The location can’t be beat if you are traveling in or out of Amsterdam Centraal train station, as we were able to just walk there (luggage and all) from the hotel the next morning to catch the Eurostar to Paris. I booked their larger room that could accommodate four people, and thought it was very spacious for Europe.

Although our early check-in request wasn't accommodated, the staff held our bags while we explored the city, and the lobby area to wait in is very spacious and nice.

The hotel's gold and blue decor added an elegant touch, with thoughtful details throughout. However, our room lacked overhead lights, making it a bit dim, and there was some noticeable dirt/dustiness. Nonetheless, the view from our room was stunning.

I appreciated the in-room amenities, including wonderful robes/slippers, pretty teacups, a Nespresso machine and a rainfall shower head with toiletries that smelled divine. (They were a local brand, and I wound up ordering the lotion!) Room service from Celia, the hotel's restaurant, was good, albeit with limited options.

Sustainability instructions

The breakfast spread offered a wide variety of choices, and the coffee was excellent. There is also a coffee bar inside the hotel that has a variety of drinks, fresh juices and pastries to purchase during the day.

Need to Know

Overall, despite some minor issues, Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam proved to be a charming option for a short trip, and I would definitely stay there again. The front desk staff is lovely, and they also give you a Stroopwafel upon checking out. The location cannot be beat for access to Amsterdam Centraal station.
