With attentive staff and a flair for detail, the Surf Club welcomes discerning travelers looking for relaxation and a differentiated resort experience. Guests are sun-seeking sojourners who appreciate privacy, high touch services and a resplendent ocean setting. They are CEOs, celebrities, couples and families. Quite commonly they are New Yorkers flying south for some warmth in the winter (of which I was one).

Room Categories:

There are 77 rooms and 26 suites each with ultimate privacy. While Ocean Rooms are the most popularly booked category, the hotel offers a range of views from their entry level Surf Club rooms, to one to four bedroom suites which have the feel of enjoying a floor to yourself.

Relaxation:

The oceanfront spa and wellness center with six treatment rooms is a highlight. Here you can indulge in a pampering session at the sauna, spa and Hammam, a traditional Turkish co-ed steam room.

There is direct walkway access to the beach from the property. Onsite, three private pools and cabana rentals allow guests to lounge for the day and imagine they’ve been transported to a Caribbean island. Families are also taken care of, with a Kids Club open 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Dining & Entertainment:

Surf Club is a fine dining destination in its own standing. At the hotel’s Lido Restaurant, guests sit in the original (and beautifully restored) high-ceilinged dining room and are served authentic Italian dishes by executive chef Marco Calenzo. Right across the lobby, Thomas Keller’s Michelin star Surf Club Restaurant serves dinner both indoors and in the outdoor courtyard. During my initial visit, a saxophonist walking the floor gave the whole ambience a feel of old-world glamor. Live music is a fixture during winter high season, played in the bar Friday and Saturday nights.

Surf Club is the stay I’d recommend to domestic clients for a three to four day tropical getaway in the winter months, without needing a passport. It’s ideal for the style setter's midweek R&R break, or the romantic couple’s long weekender. The hotel has a winter promotion to stay four consecutive nights, with the fifth night free during February 29th to April 30th. In the off-season, guests can stay three nights and enjoy a fourth night free (May 6th through December 20th).
