Curator’s statement

Singapore’s skyline is lined with towering skyscrapers that rise majestically alongside the tranquil waters of the ocean, creating a striking juxtaposition of urban sophistication against natural beauty. Yet, amidst the gleaming glass facades, brightly colored historical buildings and ornate temples add a touch of old-world charm to the cityscape. This harmonious coexistence of contemporary and traditional elements is what makes Singapore truly special, and a truly dynamic place to explore.

Day 1: Singapore's Night-Time Wonders

A picture of multi-colored lights on tall posts taken during nighttime.

Why 24 hours? I was flying from Seattle to India for work and would have had a two-hour layover in Singapore. Instead, I extended my layover in Singapore to fly out the following day so that I could have 24 hours to explore the highlights of Singapore.

Day 1: Singapore's night-time wonders

Start your trip in luxury at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore hotel. Immerse yourself in elegance and hospitality as you refresh yourself after a long flight. To combat the jet lag, head out to enjoy Singapore’s nighttime treasures.

Take a leisurely stroll to the ethereal Cloud and Flower Forest, where twinkling lights dance among lush foliage, creating a magical ambiance. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty that surrounds you.

As the sun sets, make your way to Marina Bay and witness the spectacular Marina Bay Light Show. It's like a symphony of colors and lights dancing on the water. Grab a spot and get ready to be mesmerized.

Day 2: River Cruise and Religious Temples

Day 2: River Cruise and Religious Temples

Rise and shine, early bird! It’s time to embark on a river cruise that blends colorful historical buildings with modern skyscrapers. Glide along the serene waters and behold the famous Merlion Fountain, a symbol of Singapore's rich heritage and vibrant spirit.

Grab tickets for the hop-on-hop-off bus and journey to Chinatown. Think bustling streets and vibrant markets brimming with culture and charm.

Hop off the bus and dive into Singapore's religious heritage. Explore the intricate architecture and serene atmosphere of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and the Sri Mariamman Temple, where centuries of history come to life.

If time permits, hop back on the bus and make your way to the iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Get ready for jaw-dropping views from the SkyPark rooftop. Delight in the architectural marvels that stretch before you.

And there you have it, 24 hours in Singapore packed with adventures, sights, and memories to last a lifetime. So go on, soak it all in and make every moment count!
