It's no secret that the French capital is a gastronomic and fashion heaven. This itinerary hits the classic bistros, Michelin restaurants, some of the best cocktails, a little dose of art and plenty of shopping in the city of lights.

Day 1: Arrive in Paris

old stone building and a street sign that res, "place saint-germain des pres"

You'll likely land in CDG in the morning. Check into your hotel and then grab a late lunch. Depending on where you stay, you can stroll around the neighborhood for some shopping. I love L'Avant Comptoir du Marche for a quick lunch and browsing the shops around Hotel Lutetia.

For pre-dinner cocktails, head to the new Cravan at 165 Boulevard Saint-Germain. Dinner at the classic, Allard.

Day 2: Museum and Michelin

table at cafe de flore

Grab a coffee and croissant at the iconic Café de Flor.

Walk to Musee Rodin or Musee d'Orsay before lunch at Alain Passard's Arpège. Arpege was the first Michelin 3-star restaurant to make vegetables the focus of the menu, which can be sampled at lunch time for one of the better deals in fine French dining. As an alternative, you can also go to Petit Palais next to Yanick Alleno's, Pavyllon.

Dinner can be a light affair at Clamato.

Day 3: Shopping

Grab brunch at Loulou or L'Avenue before hitting Avenue Montaigne or Rue Saint Honore.

When you get tired, walk over to Place Vendome for drinks at the Hemingway Bar before dinner at Frenchie or Bistrot Paul Bert.

Day 4: More shopping

department store

Time to hit one or a couple of the department stores - Le Bon Marche, Samaritaine or Galeries Lafayette.

Bourse de Commerce is a smaller museum to squeeze in between shopping and dinner.

Pre-dinner cocktails at Copperbay which is a 7 minute walk to one of the most authentic bistros and hardest tables to book in Paris, L'Ami Louis.
