Tallinn Old Town is boasting medieval charm with cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and vibrant cafes in Estonia's capital city. Photo is an aerial view of the town with red-roofed buildings and a forest to the side.

Begin your day by wandering through Tallinn's Old Town. The early hours offer a peaceful atmosphere, allowing you to appreciate the medieval architecture and cobblestone streets without the crowds. It honestly feels like stepping back in time.

For a truly magical experience, make your way to Patkuli or Kohtuotsa viewing platforms around 10 pm (yes, you read that right!). The late sunsets here are unlike anything else, bathing the city in a golden glow. It's the perfect backdrop for a romantic date night, with the city spread out beneath you.

If you're in Tallinn in July, the Medieval Festival is a must-see. The city comes alive with historical reenactments, market stalls and performers in traditional attire. It's an immersive experience that transports you back to the medieval era, complete with archery lessons and wandering minstrels.

A short trip from the city center will take you to the Estonian Open Air Museum, an expansive showcase of the country's rural traditions and lifestyles. It's like walking through a living history book, with restored farmhouses, windmills and even a wooden chapel.

A visit to Balti Jaam Market is a culinary and cultural must-do. Here, you'll find everything from local Estonian delicacies to Soviet-era memorabilia. It's a vibrant, bustling hub where locals and visitors alike come to shop, eat and explore.

For a slice of serenity, head to Kadriorg Park. This beautifully landscaped park is a haven of greenery, featuring manicured gardens, picturesque ponds and the stunning Kadriorg Palace. It's the perfect spot for a picnic, a leisurely stroll or simply a quiet moment to yourself.

For a unique accommodation experience, consider spending a night in an igluhut. These cozy, dome-shaped huts offer a comfortable and intimate setting amidst Estonia's natural beauty, providing a memorable way to connect with the surroundings.

If you have extra time, a day trip to Lahemaa National Park is well worth the effort. Known for its diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity, the park is a haven for nature lovers and bird watchers. The scenic beauty is simply breathtaking.

Day trip

Got a day to spare? Zip over to Helsinki on a ferry for a day trip. These aren’t your average ferries; they’re like mini cruise ships with plenty to do on board. Hop over in the morning, explore Helsinki, and be back in Tallinn by night. It’s a mini holiday within your holiday – totally worth it for that extra bit of Baltic exploration!

Kofeman Cafe/Wine: Not just a coffee stop but a photo op with their funky lip cups.

Restaurant Rataskaevu 16: Come for the vibe and outstanding service, stay for the bread pudding. Seriously, I’m still dreaming about it. Also a great spot for cocktails/mocktails.

Restaurant Puree: Ever had a meal that left you speechless? This. Place. A teeny-tiny restaurant with just a few vegan menu items that rotate each day. Nothing fancy but well worth a visit.

Peet Ruut: For those seeking the authentic flavors of Eastern Europe, the menu features a variety of dishes that showcase the best of Estonian cuisine, often prepared with a modern twist.

Vegan Restoran V: A vegan's dream come true - this place takes plant-based to a whole new level. It's small, so snagging a reservation is a must.

Maiasmokk Café: The oldest cafe in Tallinn where you can stop for a quick treat. Marzipan was created in this very cafe.

Whisper Sister: A hidden speakeasy. A must-visit for those who love a bit of mystery with their drinks.

Restaurant F-Hoone: Cool, industrial and smack in the middle of the buzzing Kalamaja district. It’s popular with the locals and a great late-night hangout spot.
