Day 1: Exploring Tetbury

I think Tetbury is a wonderful place to start. The best plan of action is to arrive in Tetbury in the evening, enjoying a nice meal before getting some rest in your cosy accommodations.

So, on the morning of your first full day, grab a light breakfast at a local café or restaurant. I like Michael's for it's delicious breakfast. Then, explore Tetbury's local antique shops and markets. Some notable ones include Brownrigg, Lorfords, and The Emporium (grea furniture spot benefiting local charities). Be sure to take your time browsing through the eclectic collections, ranging from furniture to vintage collectibles.

After a long day of exploring the town's charm and the town's antiques, enjoy a leisurely dinner at one of Tetbury's charming restaurants or pubs. I suggest Royal Oak for it's wonderful food. After your meal consider taking a stroll around the town to admire its historic architecture and picturesque streets before retiring to your hotel.

Day 2: Antiquing in Surrounding Villages

A row of stone houses next to a river during the daytime

After enjoying the fruits of Tetbury, it's time to check out some other villages. After a local breakfast (I suggest The Olive Tree for wonderful food and spectacular coffee) depart Tetbury and head to nearby Stow-on-the-Wold, known for its antique fairs and shops. Then you may choose to visit Burford, home to several antique stores and some delicious, quaint cafes. Or you may want to replace one of those two with a trip to Moreton-in-Marsh, where you can browse through antique emporiums and market stalls. No matter what you choose, take your time exploring the shops and perhaps find some unique treasures that may become heirlooms of your own.

After a day of antiquing, return to Tetbury for dinner. I suggest a pub meal at Trouble House. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is just right. After your meal relax and unwind at your hotel, reflecting on the day's discoveries.

Day 3: Explore Other Area Treasures

Ivory houses and trees near pond.

On your last day, take time to explore some of the other treasures of the area. After a leisurely breakfast and checking out of your hotel, consider visiting some great gems of the area like Highgrove Gardens, which is King Charles' private gardens, open to the public on select days. Or you may want to stroll through Westonbirt Arboretum, home to one of the most beautiful tree collections in the world. For a change of pace, you may choose to visit nearby Bath, with its incredible history and charm.

As the day goes on, return to Tetbury for a late lunch and some final souvenir shopping if time allows. Try The Somerford Arms for lunch. The fish and chips are really quite good.

Leave Tetbury with warm memories and a treasure or two to remember the adventure for years to come.
