The best places to see the cherry blossoms

  • Sunrise at the Tidal Basin – a must to beat the crowds – and by the Capitol building.

  • Willard Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea at Peacock Alley: Enjoy cherry blossom-themed treats and delicious tea in this historic hotel.

  • Waldorf Astoria Cherry Blossom Clocktower Tea Service: Full of sweet, local treats with notes of cherry.

  • Cherry Blossom Festival River Cruises: See the cherry blossom trees in a unique view from the river.

  • Go shopping at City Center: Where all the designer stores are located, it’s fun to walk around and see the pink-themed decor and pick up a treat or two.

  • Visit the National Gallery of Art: You could spend a whole day at this museum of art! There are original paintings from Cezanne, Degas, Leonardo da Vinci and numerous artworks that will catch your eye.

  • Visit some of the other many free museums, like the National Portrait Gallery, the Hirshhorn and National Museum of Asian Art.

  • Go to a concert at the Anthem, 9:30 Club or Capital One Arena.

  • Grab a coffee at Compass Coffee, like their cherry blossom cold brew.

  • Le Diplomate: A DC staple - you have to make a reservation in advance otherwise you’ll be waiting a while! You can try the French classic steak frites or the DC favorite warm shrimp salad along with an aperitif and cheese board to round out your meal.

  • Residents Café & Bar: Make a reservation for the heated outdoor patio to bask in their cherry blossom-themed decor and try one of their specialty cherry blossom drinks.

  • The Red Hen: Known for their delicious pastas, this cozy restaurant is a DC must-try. Make a reservation in advance - this place is popular!

  • Zaytinya: This restaurant is known for their delicious Mediterranean cuisine and has a little bit of something for everyone.

  • L’Ardente: Named one of the best in DC, this restaurant is known for their 40-layer lasagna (so delicious!) and grand celebrations for special occasions.

  • Rumi’s Kitchen: Looking for delicious Persian food? You’re in luck - try any of the kebab and rice dishes and you won’t be disappointed.

  • Sushi Nakazawa: Love sushi and omakase? This is one of DC’s best restaurants that combines both.

  • Jaleo: A José Andrés classic, this Spanish spot serves tapas, delicious drinks and paella, all with great vibes.

  • Unconventional Diner: A fun twist on a typical diner, this American spot serves so many delicious dishes, you’ll find something you love to eat!
