I started as a solo traveler, who found her best friend through our love of spontaneous trips. So planning for one evolved into (kind of) planning for two. Today almost 15 years and dozens of trips later, I have a partner, two littles, a few friends and occasionally extended family that want to tag along, and so it changed again to family or group travel planning. This type of travel usually requires me to be budget-savvy, but I do splurge when all the stars align! With more than one chef in my life, I will plan destinations around food and wine, which seem to transcend all kinds of language barriers. The local experience is also an important aspect of my planning. I like to be sure that I am frequenting Mom and Pop places, supporting local artists, and overall getting out of my own comfort zone. Although, I will usually carve out a day or two for the touristy stuff too!
