Jackson Allen

I enjoy traveling by myself, as well as with friends and family. I've traveled to 12 foreign countries and been all over the United States. I love seeing and learning about the history of different parts of this world and being able to share my experiences with my students. Some of my favorite travel experiences have been countries or cities that I've learned the history of, and then had the chance to go see for myself. Some of the highlights include seeing Robben Island Prison in South Africa, battlefields from the American Revolution and Civil War and Ancient Egypt's Valley of the Kings. History is one of my passions, and travel really makes it come alive. You can see history's impact for yourself, and talk to locals about how different events have shaped life in their country. These experiences also give me powerful stories to share with my students, and help me bring the content to life when I return to my classroom.

I took up distance running while I was in high school, and still pursue this by running two marathons each year. The experience of racing through a city for 26.2 miles is powerful and exciting, especially at the bigger races when they close the streets down and draw large crowds. I've gotten a lot of practice with booking travel for big races, and have learned to ensure plenty of wiggle room with flights and to find a hotel close to the finish line. My tired legs always thank me later! I have also planned several trips to cheer on my beloved Kansas State Wildcats, and have experience booking travel for big sporting events as well.
